I've actually been watching more Elmo since this news broke. In fact, I've been watching more Sesame Street in general. (But maybe that's because I'm working on my video review of A Speical Sesame Street Christmas)
Oh, for the love of pete...

As a huge Barney fan/collector, I really have to disagree. Then again, most official Barney products (Not all, but most) are of very high quality, so it might just be me being super-picky. But with that said... WHAT'S UP WITH THOSE DEMONIC GREEN EYES?!? :grouchy:
Ah yes... even as a Barney...
No we are not. But I had to do something! After all... it's CHRISTMAS! :)
Oh, come on now! I'm sure the good people would LOVE to hear about your mother! :P
Also keep this in mind, buddy:
If you do have to buy the thing, no matter how much you spend on it, you'll have spent more than I...
I finally recieved my copy of A Special Sesame Street Christmas. As I said when I recieved the broken copy (that this free one replaced), I unknowngly ordered the two-disc set that also includes the soundtrack album CD.
The packaging is horrible - Not only does the cover art look awful, and...
If you want a REALLY ugly Elmo product, look no further than this knock-off handpuppet from China.
Their Barney puppet doesn't look much better.
What's with the tounge on Elmo? Or Barney's green eyes? :o
I'm sure Elmo will make a few promotional appearences with his new preformer when that time comes, but yeah, it's very possible that he'll be used less than he usually is.
Not sure if you guys have heard this yet or not, but it's been confirmed that Kevin Clash has already filmed new Sesame Street material. In other words, there won't be any episodes premiering with a new Elmo until 2014.

I'm honestly surprised that you were able to find this thing at a major retailer like Wal-Mart. Out of curiousity, did they have a lot of these, or just a few? Did they just have the single DVD, or did they have the edition that comes with the soundtrack, too?
Well, to each their own. I'm...
Man, this is horrible. It's so sad that such a big part of Sesame Street has to go, let alone like this. I trust that the people at Seasme will place Elmo in new loving hands, but it just won't be the same without the man that basically created him.
Fair enough. But still, with all of that copyrighted music (Especially with "You Needed Me" being the regular studio recording), I'm surprised this is seeing any light at all on DVD...
A Special Sesame Street Christmas is a "fun, new and exciting Christmas CD for everyone!" eh? Yeah... no it isn't. That like saying that vampires sparkle, or that (ware)wolves can change at will. Not buying it, guys.
My free replacement copy has shipped. Hopefully, it doesn't come to me...
