Froggy's comment, "I'm just offended that once again the mainstream press can't tell the difference between The Muppet Show and Sesame Street," is perfect. I can't improve on it.
That says it all.
What a disappointment:(
Chris--
What I also:mad: HATE :mad:is the implication that the sweet song of yearning "I'm going to go back there someday" from the Muppet Movie was a foreshadowing of Gonzo being a space alien.
If only we could assemble the people who wrote the MOVIE and the SONG and ask them if that...
Chris--
Yeah, I kinda liked Treasure Island. I even bought the soundtrack.
I hated From Space because it squandered the mystery of Gonzo.:( Plus, it came out in the same summer as Phantom Menace, and it shoulda been a wild send-up of all things sci-fi. Instead, it was a weak kinda...
Chris---
I feel the same way about Rhymes and Reasons. I've even got an LP of Aerie.:)
When people call John Denver corny, I want to strangle them.
Plus, you're also disappointed with Episode II, just like me. I could repost my giant review, but I don't think it'd belong here in...
Heyyy Chris--gymkatarules!!!! (yelled like Kermit)
Annnnnd let me be the second to welcome you to the forum.
I went to your website; we have a lot in common, especially your words about Jim Henson. I agree 100%. I too have a hard time enjoying what the Henson Co.'s stewards are doing with...
Froggy
Yeah, that was reckless and stupid of Rivers Cuomo to say that.
It's also telling that his first reaction was NOT something like "Yeah! Woo!"
Ah, well, we true believers will take what we can get;)
Yeah, it was THIS board that informed me that both Fozzie and Piggy were replacements.
All I can say is WOW.
Still, Yoda was all the more enjoyable this summer 'cuz I knew it was our Frank in there.:)
Fozzie and Piggy sounded great, but Statler and Waldorf still don't sound right to me.
Since they are such minor characters, why not audition a lot more folks until they get people who can do the voices properly, instead of handing the characters over to performers who just happen to be...
Testify, Froggy!
From the Muppet Show to Fraggle Rock and everything else, ALWAYS lots of others runnin' around in the background. It's like, how could you run a theatre or a police station with just a skeleton crew?
Made it feel a little unreal; ie phony.
But, I still liked...
Yeah, I wanted to be all happy about this, but sometimes you can see too far down Kermit's torso, and there shoulda been more characters hanging around backstage. The Muppet Show and Hill Street Blues (and now NYPD Blue) are famous for that.
Bunsen looks a little different somehow...
AWESOME!
Classic crew back in the spotlight, baby--YEAH!
MORE!:) :D :D :)
But, why all streaming media? I wanna save a copy for myself:(
Still, it's GREAT!:D
I think this prequel series will redeem itself, artistically, in part, if the next one is really, REALLY dark. Other than that, what can we expect if Lucas is writing and directing?
Yeah, wasn't Harrison Ford quoted from the time of the first movie as saying to Lucas: "You can write this ****, but you can't say it."
Ford also ad-libbed some of his own dialogue, too.
Glad you caught the review.
I guess you almost missed it cuz I haven't been too active here lately.
First, I lost my DSL for a while, and now I'm caught up with trying to make the CROWE newsletter bigger. I print 700 copies, and hardly nobody advertises in it BECAUSE it's so small, so I'm...
I've been feeling kinda bad about what I wrote about the new Star Wars.:(
It's out of love, though. I wanted more from it.
But I STILL ENJOYED it.:)
I guess Lucas has me expecting the world from him.
That's a good thing, though.
Hey Froggy, you going to the Powerpuff Girls Movie? I sure am. Can't wait!
Lemme know what you think of it if you go.
Hope I didn't offend anyone with that huge kinda negative review of Attack of the Clones I posted a while back.
:(
As for the toys, I want a Gonzo bust.
Star Wars
Hi, y'all.
I got my DSL back.
Attack of the Clones?
Episode II was a disappointment. The original Vader was played by a retired British bodybuilding champ; even covered with a helmet, David Prowse gave Vader a sense of menace and power simply by the way he carried himself...
