I'm not arguing with you, Marky! I think overall Disney's handling of the Muppets has been abysmal. I'm just pointing out a couple of things that indicate that the situation might be a little less dire than it at first seems. :smirk:
Earlier this summer, I would have agreed with you, Marky. But then this Christmas CD came out of nowhere--with the right performers, no less!
In other words, just because Disney is bad at letting Muppet fans know what's going on, doesn't mean that nothing's going on.
Also, for those...
I'm surprised that so many people are upset about this "hiatus." Disney kicked Steve and Dave out of their jobs and caused massive angry upheaveal in the Muppet fan community with a usually mediocre five-minute web show. I'm thrilled that it's on hiatus, and I hope it never comes back!
I want...
Hee! I hear what you're saying, Marky. It really is great. It's probably just as well that it doesn't have a forum, though. The other sites need a chance to fill in some need in the Muppet fan community. And I think MC and TP both do that really well!
Wow. I've seen the Wiki many times before, but they've done a lot of updates on the Fierys since the last time I checked. It's great to have all that information collected in one place!
Thanks for pointing this out, Fierygirl!
Hmm, good question. I saw it at the time, but can no longer remember if it was Victor or Drew playing Pepe. Anyone else?
As for how the performance was, it was like most anything on FtB: not terrible, but definitely not the real thing.
As to whether Victor and Drew are permanent replacements, that's a big open question right now. V & D have also appeared as :boo: and  on ESPN's Big Sports Movie on Sundays, but Disney still credits Steve and Dave as the "official" performers.
As for who played what and when, all you...
Chicago is...very warm, actually. :) To be honest, that's not fair: after several blistering weeks in the upper 90's, we're now enjoying an extremely pleasant cool front.
As for me, myself, I'm still broke. Some things never change, I guess. ;)
What were you passing through Chicago for?
I would want to see a Floyd replica. For some odd reason, Jerry Nelson's characters always get the short shrift when it comes to merchandise!
Rowlf would be great too.
(Waves hi at Beauregard, who said hi to him in another thread that's now closed.)
Stormclouds, I understand this is a difficult time, but you can disagree with other forum members without being temperamental. Believe me, I know it's hard - I'm going through the same thing in another forum right now. But a lack of politeness will not help win anyone to your point of view...
Jake,
Thank you for taking the time to post, and responding so gracefully. I'm a writer myself, and I know how hard it is when one's own work gets attacked.
I read the link on the LiveJournal before it was removed, and I have to say I'm puzzled by some of the choices (the artwork more so...
Eeeep! Thanks for the warning, Alorin. I can't even believe that.
I didn't recognize Sarah at all. And what's with Jareth's whole "You can change your clothes, Toby--I won't look" thing?
I can't believe I've waited 20 years for this creepy mess. (shudder)
Wow, that's awesome about all the publicity it will be recieving! Also glad to hear that it will end up at most comic retailers. I guess I'm just used to my favorite Jim Henson movie being ignored by retailers of any kind (i.e., the Labyrinth shirts produced for Hot Topic but not available...
Thanks for posting this, Chibireaper! I knew that a manga was in the works, but didn't know that it was coming out in August. I guess that explains the "Return to Labyrinth" T-shirts that Henson.com is selling, and why there's a 20th-anniversary screening of the film in L.A. tonight. (I mean, a...
