*running through the streets, back to apartment. Slams the door and begins pacing*
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Why did I even bother! Why did I have to get involved! Why can’t I keep to myself!
*breaks down crying*
Victor: No really! I mean it! My approach was a little too old fashioned and I-
*He stops speaking, looking at my wrist*
What? What’s wrong?
Victor: Your bracelet…
Huh? *lifts up wrist and checks bracelet* Oh, what about it?
Victor: It’s very scratched. *he takes my wrist to look it...
*Later on, I’m waiting outside the library impatiently tapping my foot. Then, Victor walks out.*
Finally! Well, what did she say?
*For a moment, Victor is emotionless. Then, he breaks out a massive grin*
Victor: She said she was available on Tuesday!
*Bursts into excitement and hugs...
Victor: But, what do I do? Just go up to her and confess my love?
Oh, God no! That way too direct, too American.
Victor: Hey!
It’s true! Anyway, if you want my advice, you should go up to her and ask if she’s free for a cup of coffee.
Victor: It’s…really that simple?
*Looks away...
Victor: So, I did what everyone in my high school did. Write love poems. *looks at me sternly* Alright, Miss Love Doctor! What’s your diagnosis?
Okay, first off, don’t call me that again! That sounds really weird. Second, although you definitely have potential as a poet-
*Victor scoffs*...
*Victor takes out his wallet and shows me a black and white picture of a younger version of him and a dark-haired woman on their wedding day*
Victor: We wanted children, but nothing worked. It didn’t help when I went off to war. But we were happy for the longest time. Then-
She passed away...
*Victor glares for a bit, then sighs*
Victor: Ever since I was young, I’ve always been shy with women. In those days, men were expected even more to make the first move than today. But I was never the tall, dark, handsome, confident hero they wanted me to be. All I was really interested in was...
*Later Victor and May sit in the outside of a coffee place*
Victor: I still don’t trust you!
I understand. I am but a stranger. But I really do want to help, if you’ll let me.
Victor: *looks at me suspiciously* Why?
*caught off-guard slightly* Erm, because…I’m a decent person? *grins...
Victor: My problem? If you’re talking about Felicia and me, you can forget it! I can deal with it on my own! You shouldn’t be butting into people’s business!
So you’re just going to continue to write poems confessing your love to dear, sweet Felicia and throw them away like they’re garbage for...
*Quietly, I put the book away and exit the library. Later on, Victor exits the library with a book under his arm and a dreamy look on his face. I’m leaning on the wall seemingly casual. He does not notice me until I speak*
Soooo, that was Felicia, eh?
Victor: *jumps* What the- You?! What do...
*While reading, a conversation is going on near the desk which I’m not paying too much attention*
Speaker One: Oh hello, Victor! It’s been a while since I last saw you!
Speaker Two: Hello. Yes it has.
Speaker One: Did you enjoy that book on poetry?
*Suddenly interested and whispers*...
*The door opens*
Old Man: Wait, I remember you. You’re that woman from yesterday!
Yeah, I am. Listen, I know you’re probably going to be mad at me for this but…
*Hands him the files of poems*
…I collected all of your poems and read them.
Old Man: *shocked* What? Where did you get...
(Ah, yes. Of course, silly me. :P)
*Presses the buzzer leading to the old man’s apartment*
Old Man: *over the speaker* Hello? Who is it?
Um, hi. I have something of yours and I thought you might like it back!
Old Man: Huh? Oh, hold on! I’ll be down in a sec!
(Huh?)
*walks around the streets*
I wish I was paying attention! I can't find the dratted place. If only there were some clue-
*A paper ball falls on head as if on cue*
That'll do!
*Files all the poems from yesterday into a neat pile and puts them in a folder.*
Well, here goes nothing.
*Leaves apartment. Looks at the damage to the block entrance in surprise*
What the- How did I miss this? I must have a word with Johnny and Yuna about this mess. I wonder if they...
*Pacing in the living room*
*thinking* I really shouldn't interfere. What business do I have with this man? He'd be furious if he found out I read all those poems. Besides, what do I know about love?
*pauses, then looks at bracelet with a sad expression*
*shakes head* But then again, it does...
*goes back to apartment, makes a hot cocoa and reads the rest of the letters, many of which are very moving.*
Aww, poor guy. *sigh* I wish there was something I could do…
*Picks up a few and reads them*
Wow, these aren't half bad. But where did they come from?
*Looks up as another paper ball falls. It seems to have been thrown over a brick balcony from the first floor. Grumbling is heard*
Um, Hello? Excuse me! Sir?
*An old man pops his head over the wall and...
