Washington warned about division, but Jefferson, Franklin and others wanted vigorous debate. (Jefferson and Franklin had more experience than Washington with politics and government on an international level-- Washington was a soldier and a farmer.) The two party system is intended to be...
Kids need to see new Muppet productions to generate interest in the old and in the brand in general. Wrong as we may think it is, the Muppets are generally viewed as a preschool brand currently. The assumption by many, many parents is that Muppets are the equivalent of Sesame Street and their...
Okay, everyone take a deep breath. Hollywood has always made plans that don't work out. That's the business. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it was planned with the best of intentions and failed and sometimes it was just talk. If people want to get excited about plans...
I edited the thread title per forum rules. We have a lot of younger members and MC has a family-friendly language policy-- easy to forget sometimes. Happy 5th.
:)
Uppity-- disagreements are welcome here. The issue was not with the word "fluff" nor with your opinions. The mods took issue with the way you expressed your opinions. You were disrespectful toward another forum member and chose phrasing that was inflammatory. That violates the forum rules...
Speaking as a former AIDS educator and a parent, it's easy to talk about AIDS with kids. I have a harder time explaining why they see people smoking ("don't they know it's bad for them?" "are they a bad person?" "are they going to die?") than AIDS.
Generally speaking, kids don't ask for...
The disclaimer is necessary. Television censors have different guidelines today than they had in the early 70s. In the early 70s, adults smoked all over television. Today, you can't show adults smoking in a kids show (unless it is part of a very clear 'smoking: bad' segment). Early SST...
I had read that there would only be the two puppets so that didn't bother me. I kile seeing Muppets out in the world interacting with humans and having it not be an issue that they're foam talking animals.
It might have thrown me if I hadn't known going in.
I don't think they'd film more than the pilot without a committment from a broadcaster. Yes constructing the puppets, etc. is expensive but writing, setting, filming, directing, and editing multiple episodes would be even more expensive.
Hopefully we'll see more-- I thought there was a...
You know, I've been thinking, with global warming and the loss of polar ice, it really isn't okay to toss Muppet penguins around. Arctitic penguins could be in serious jeoprardy in the very near future. It's wrong to suggest it is okay to do violence to an animal that could become endangered...
Well, Sesame Workshop can't use Kermit as a roving reporter anymore because they can't afford the fees Disney charges for him. That doesn't seem super friendly to me-- charging a non-profit an arm and a leg for a character they used for years before you got a hold of him. I know SST hadn't...
Disney won't sue JHC over Tinseltown. The lawyers will have made sure JHC can continue to do puppet productions and the lawyers will have checked out copyright issues before Tinseltown hit the air. Technically Disney may own the name "Muppets" but I believe SST can still call their Muppets...
I'm with Jamie on this one. Tinseltown is a JHC production. We may not be able to call them "Muppets" from a legal stand point but it certainly contains Muppety characters. Tinseltown belongs on this forum.
I'm all for insisting on a certain level of respect and decency (obviously). I...
