One big trending story in the past week. A woman named Tessica Brown put Gorilla Glue in her hair. Not spray, not mousse, not gel, but glue. You have two brain cells to rub together. You put glue in your hair, what do you think is gonna happen?
Okay, we all do dumb things. But then you go on...
The only one who ever really turned down Weird Al was The Artist Formerly Known As The Artist Formerly Known As Prince.
He was the extreme end of the spectrum. For most artists, getting a Weird Al parody is the ultimate compliment. It means you’ve arrived, and most consider it a high honor...
At least to a degree, in music, the artist has the final say. But you have to reach a certain level of mega-success. Eric Clapton can say he wants to put out an album of old blues covers. If Warner Brothers doesn’t like it, saying it should be more pop, Clapton can say he’ll do a project with...
There should be some happy middle ground, in the case of SpongeBob, where everyone is satisfied.
Stephen got SpongeBob off the ground, and Nick more than recouped it’s investment.
There should be a point Stephen could say, so many seasons or so many episodes is enough, let’s call it a day.
But...
I think others have tried this to get extra mileage out of a story.
I don’t know how necessary it is to have a backstory of how Cruella got so evil. In the original film, she’s a villain because it’s a necessary plot device. That tells the whole story.
The only angle they could be shooting for...
Anyone ever have a gyro? (Remember, Snowthy? There was a Seinfeld episode, George was getting on the subway, the door slams on his hand, he had a gyro in his hand and Al Roker takes it off him.)
For the uninitiated, it’s a Greek sandwich. Sliced roasted lamb or beef, lettuce, onions, tomatoes...
I guess if you create a wholly original character or intellectual property, you become very possessive of it. You’d hate to see it get ripped off, cheapened, or somebody else making money off your work. By all means you should get any royalties or residuals you’re entitled to.
But not everyone...
That’s the way it was in 2002 on YesterdayLand, trying to describe old stuff and hoping your memory served you well.
I was in the middle of a pack of these thirtysomethings talking about the early Sesame days. There was one very young guy (about 25) talking smack about something. We were like...
I appreciate all you guys have done, posting vintage clips. It’s a crying shame, no matter how much you post, some will never be satisfied. That’s their tough crap, not yours.
Here in NJ we got three feet two weeks ago. It’s sunny today and slowly melting.. I have icicles having off my roof it looks like a gingerbread house.
Maybe Hansel and Gretel will show up.
I’ll eat watermelon but I won’t spit the seeds. I prefer seedless. If it’s on sale, I’ll get a wedge, not a whole one.
Two things people used to do. Get a whole melon, cut a whole in the top, pour in a fifth of vodka, let it soak in overnight, then you have the makings for a party.
Another...
Chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day.
On occasion I used to make them at work.
When the chocolate is melted, you have to work fast dipping the strawberries in. Once the chocolate cools, it seizes up and becomes like concrete.
It’s been twelve years since I worked at Subway. But I’ve gone back a few times, and the meatball sub was my favorite too.
Definitely toasted.
Mozzarella, a few peppers and onions, and the Southwest sauce gives it a little kick.
Bam!
I’m proud of you. There comes a time when you feel you want to leave the nest, and hats off to you.
This is what parents do. They raise you so you get to this point. They did their job. Now it’s time for you to shape your own destiny. Props to you.
If I had to choose one, mine would be Duck Soup. In spite of no scenes with Chico or Harpo playing their instruments, there’s enough classic bits. Props for the mirror scene.
Sandwich shops aren’t as big as they used to be. Subway, Blimpie’s, and Quiznos used to be big. Around here, the only one on the horizon is Jersey Mike’s. They only make a handful of sandwiches, but they make them very well. One of the best cheesesteaks I ever had.
Well, my wife and I have been married twenty years, and we’re not splitting up anytime soon. We could have split up a number of times, but we didn’t. We took our vows seriously, and we’re in this Til Death Do Us Part.
We’ve had problems and arguments, like any couple will. But she’s still the...
