I agree. The puppeteering wasn't great by any means, but I have seen worse...
Congrats, StaceyRebecca! So glad to see one of our own being well-represented!
Ah, yes. From what I can tell, it seems like you're pointing your mics right at the speakers if they're backstage with you. This is a surefire recipe for feedback.
If this is the case, setting accurate levels and using cables might be your best bet. Keeping the speakers downstage of your mics...
Your problem is not going to be with your mics, nearly so much as how you are using them. If you are not aware, there is a LOT more to it than "plug it in and turn it on." Your feedback could simply be a matter of placing the PA unit in the wrong proximity to the mics. It could also be that your...
PC- If you read the article it refers to it as an "adult-themed production". It does say puppet-friendly, not family-friendly.
As the article refers to it as a revamped version of Puppet Up they may have chosen a new title to set it apart. Hard to say really, but it does seem to be the same...
I often use self-adhesive vinyl. I used to work in a sign shop and I plotted several hundred of them in a few sizes. I like them because they're perfectly round, incredibly thin (2 mil) and nice and shiny. Similar to the afore-mentioned electrician's tape, but much more accurate and easier to apply.
I have to disagree somewhat with the above. I don't think you can make such a blanket statement about large chain stores.
My local JoAnn's nearly always has a respectable variety of furs in stock, while our Wal•Mart frequently, but not always, has fur pillows/rugs. I think you have to shop...
No, muslin has no nap to it at all, and shows seams really well. It is not fleece-like at all! You'd do much better to dye a white fleece.
Muslin is about as basic a fabric as there is, and is quite inexpensive. I do use it for test patterns to sew something up to check dimensions, contours...
If you look at my earlier suggestion, sewing the yarn to the center fabric strip creates a center part in the hair. The stitch actually is the part.
The starch idea is a good one. Another idea is to buy some VERY THIN bare copper wire, and weave some into the bangs. The wire holds the style...
When I need to do braids I usually use yarn for hair. I cut a bunch of strands at least long enough to go from the bottom of one braid, up and over the head and down to the bottom of the opposite braid. I stitch these strands to a strip of fabric that matches the puppet's skin color. This makes...
Hi Miriam! Welcome to the forum. There are certainly a lot of ways to approach your project, but the first question that comes to my mind is scale. Will this be a hand puppet? Or might it be more like one of the apple trees from The Wizard of Oz having a life-size tree with performer inside...
Whether you use a mic or not, it is still important to know how to project your voice in a healthy manner.
When I'm miked I use a Sennheiser ew100 g2 wireless lav. When I use it for puppetry I place the mic capsule in the center of my forehead and use a gym headband to hold it and the cord in...
If the size is small enough you can simply use a small ball (or I've seen plastic grapes used) as a form and a circle of antron. Do a gather stitch around the circumference and draw it tight around the form. You'll have a small bunch of fabric where the edges come together that you stitch shut...
