I don't mind that they concentrated a lot of Cooney's background, this is the best place to do it really. Sesame Street is her baby! It may not be the part most people are interested in, but it is important. :)
I mean, I don't want to be overly harsh about this and say "You must accept they aren't real!" That would be an extreme, lol. I just mean that for me, seeing how it all worked never ruined any magic. If anything it made more interested. :)
Yeah I mean people are very eager to tear you down once they built you up. While I think Bush deserved most of the criticism he got, the level it got to was quite amazing!
Oh yeah, you can't get into pattern of rich = bad and poor = good. But then again, I think it's our duty to protect the less fortunate and make sure everyone gets their equal share. And let's face it, we don't have that in this country.
I just don't want to get too attached to any leader I guess, lol. I mean, in the end there's more regular people in this country who make the daily things happen, then there are the wealthy people. ;)
Honestly, I don't want to stop people who are happy about the election from being happy. :) I'm just glad we live in country where you don't have to be. ;)
How true that is. ;)
I'm not saying people aren't thinking rationally or anything. All I'm saying is, it's wrong to judge him negatively when he hasn't committed any crimes. But at the same time, it's also wrong to assume he'll be good before he's really done anything. :)
Well yes I'm sure the behind the scenes shows were mainly for adults, but a lot of fans saw them as children, and still fondly remember them now, with no issue about seeing how the puppets work. Of course everyone's different. :)
Children do understand on some level that the characters are...
I agree about reserving judgement. But by the same token, I don't agree with people who are going around saying, "Everything will be OK now with Obama" when he hasn't even done anything yet.
(I'm not saying you are saying that, but a lot of people are)
Reserving judgement should be both...
Yeah we'll just have to see. I will always say the two party system needs to be expanded, if only to allow non-wealthy people to be serious nominees for President and other positions. I'm sick of being given just two choices of wealthy politians who claim to speak for the people, but don't have...
Really? That surprises me, I remember seeing it then and loved it!
Yeah I would have liked that better too, but I guess they were advertising The Jim Henson Hour.
Well that was Carrol Spinney's view. Jim Henson did a lot of behind the scenes specials, which kids did see, of how the Muppets work. :)
Like I said, it's just very retro, a likely a reaction to the drawing values of the time.
This isn't directed at Obama or anything, just the general state of politics. I just had to add:
"The last man nearly ruined this place, he didn't know what to do with it. If you think this country's bad off now, just wait til I get through with it." :insatiable:
--Groucho Marx ;)
I agree, it wouldn't be as big a deal.
A few decades ago, Obama wouldn't have been President and it's amazing and wonderful that we've come so far. But like I said before, there are many other groups that continue to be unrepresented. We still have a long way to go in this country, heh.
I...
I think collectively we haven't fully taken the problem in yet. It doesn't seem real enough for everyone. I mean there aren't any breadlines like in the 1930's. Still, we should be prioritizing. ;)
To clarify, I do think it's good to finally have an African American president, honestly. And I...
I still have Monster Maker on tape from Nick's Muppet Matinee; I really like it! It represents the frustration so many young people feel when they're trying to reach their dreams and circumstances stand in their way. :)
I am taping the event as we speak, changing channels every now and then to get different perspectives; as a student of media I'd be very silly not to, hehe.
I did a write-in for the election; I did not vote in a major party and don't regret that. But I do hope this inauguration will help our...
