That's true, you know I think Sesame Street has been very successful with books. But the Muppet Show characters have never really conquered that territory (not that there haven't been good works :) ).
I really think there's a disconnect nowadays. Miss Piggy got big in the '70s because she was on TV every week. And because she was something new and different. Obviously now the Muppets are not a regular thing the public sees. And I think even when they are seen, there hasn't been the "big...
Well what I was saying was kids should be taught to be open to new things, not always given just the movie they want. That's not a good precedent to set. That's what many critics say about Sesame Street, that's it's too much about instant gratification. Life and learning won't always be that...
Haha, good one. And it's true!
You know, I wonder if Jim Henson was at that event. Couldn't the reporter have just gone up to Jim and asked, "Does this man work for you?" Lol
Wow I didn't know that! Can't say I blame him though, hehe.
Mrs. Pepper, my first admiration for Bowie probably came from Labyrinth too, lol. Though I loved his segment in the History of Rock and Roll documentary during Ziggy Stardust phase. :sing:
Hehe, I'm just recalling that interview where the reporter said Richard "claimed" to work with the Muppets, lol. So what does that mean in our case? We "claim" to be Muppet fans? :insatiable:
Aw thanks a lot! I don't want to make you write your address for no reason, we can work it out there...
Yeah but at that point, the parents have already spent their money, hehe. ;)
I mean, I loved a certain movie when I was little, but then it got taped over. So my parents bought me a different version of the same story. At first I was really upset that it was different, and not what I wanted...
Hehe, yes I do wonder if a sarcastic approach might be taken, lol.
One question, and no one has to respond if it's not convenient. Would anyone on here who has the Muppet Cast Richard DVD be able to bring it to the event to borrow? I'd definitely mail it back. Like I said, no problem if no...
Thanks for all the kind words, hanging in there. :)
I showed Emmett Otter to a friend a couple years ago; he was quite amused at how after awhile you could tell the same guys were playing the cute furry good guys and the nasty rockin bad guys, lol.
I would say the Lizard sort of sounds like...
Well hehe I may be skeptical, but I think every generation claims to encourage individuality, only to persecute anyone who tries. ;)
But all I really mean to say is there are good and bad things about any group, and I don't mind labeling someone a hippie if I feel they have some of the good...
That's a good point, there are similarities! Certainly about the complex bond of a kid and her/his toy. And I'd definitely recommend seeing The Christmas Toy. :)
Hehe yeah me too, it's just that the hair thing was a big deal for the hippie movement. Boys enjoyed not being told how to look for once. That was one positive aspect of the movement. And it was wrong for Jim Henson to be judged for adapting some parts of the hippie movement, just because other...
Aw yeah I'm sorry, I do understand. It definitely wasn't all flowers and peace; there was too much irresponsibility. I mean though that at the time artists like Jim Henson sort of half adapted the hippie thing in the late '60s, early '70s (without the dropping out of society thing and...
Oh I'm not saying those stories aren't accurate, hehe. Just saying she represents the more positive aspects of the hippie movement (which didn't always exist, but again nothing is perfect. :) )
I've often considered myself "Hippie Christian" (which I got from a Tough Pigs commentary lol). Like sometimes traditional, but skeptical and different other times. ;)
