Well I can't speak for other users. And I'm not saying I agree with everything that was said. I'm just saying it reminds me of when Kermit didn't mind inviting Statler and Waldorf back into the theater in that one episode of the Muppet Show, even though they appear to be anything but supportive...
If some fans end up not liking a project, that does not mean they are not true fans. That's like saying only one religion is true. ;)
Here's the way I see it. If Star Trek fans had just decided to support Star Trek: The Motion Picture, despite how poorly it was done, we might never have gotten...
There's people like that in every kind of fanbase. There's fans who get hostile if a newer project isn't instantly embraced by all. Fans are going to disagree and either group demanding that the other side stop is not helpful.
But I agree that one should see the product first before truly...
Sometimes studios need to listen to those "old fans" or else their project will go too far away from the vision that the franchise is supposed to represent. ;)
I admit I consider myself a purist, but at the same time I do have a mind of my own. If something is good, I admit that it is good.
Just because some fans are more loyal to a particular time period than others does not mean they are hurting the fanbase. There's always going to be different...
The Beatles. Yes I know they did those two new songs in 1995, and fans liked them OK, but mainly what helped bring the Beatles back into the spotlight in the '90s was how the Anthology highlighted the prime of the Beatles work from the 1960s. I still see young kids who love the Beatles and it's...
I half agree with you. But there's a lot of older franchises that don't technically "continue" their property (that is, make new projects), but still remain very popular even years later. And it's because their best work is still around and available for people to see. I do think Disney should...
Oooooo....hmm....well, it's cute...but as other people have said it looks like...well...a plant. I think if the rest of the "M" hadn't been green, the collar would look a lot better.
I think that's very telling. I think you can people excited about retro entertainment very easily, all you have to do is write a decent script! But then they keep writing lousy scripts and people just go "Oh I guess people just don't like retro." Wrong. ;)
Personally I never understand why people think that's such a big deal. Would we prefer religious traditions to never evolve and never embrace parts of their cultural surroundings? As a Christian I have no problem with the fact that much of the holiday traditions came from pagan sources. It was a...
Yeah I definitely understand. I don't think it's that we don't believe everyone's a saint. I think it's just part of the culture and history of the Church to have central figures that we can identify with and be inspired by.
I agree, but probably in a slightly different way. I don't think...
I think MCC was definitely a nice movie, but it never feels like a Muppet movie to me. I guess I'm just a purist, you know how annoying they can be. ;)
It's obvious they're trying, I think any good franchise peaks and then struggles to get back to that moment when everything was perfect. The...
Actually I don't even think it matters whether something's still in the public eye if a decent marketing campaign is launched. I would be interested to see what they do with that.
Well I guess the idea is that they haven't been gone, but they haven't been on top the way they used to be. So a successful movie would be a comeback of sorts.
This Yogi remake looks like unnecessary CGI coupled with unfunny attempts at humor nowhere near the original cartoon. If the new Muppets movie is like that, then yes it probably wouldn't do very well (and rightfuly so). These retro remakes all seem to have one thing in common, incredibly lazy...
As a Catholic, just want to say that yes there is a lot of emphasis on ritual that I myself disagree with at times. But it should also be pointed out that Catholicism has the concept of Tradition (capital "T") which says our understanding of God's word should evolve over time and not solely rely...
