I'm perfectly happy with 7. I've heard nothing but mixed reviews about 10 (and this after mostly negative reviews about 8), not to mention it would seem 7 has at least a couple of good years left before Microsoft apparently drops support for it altogether.
That, and I like my computer to behave...
Okay, after a little bit of research, I've figured out what the problem is. . . .
This particular update is a "patch update" that's supposed to work as a "compatibility update," meaning it's Microsoft's way of trying to put PCs still running Windows 7 or 8 into something of a transitional mode...
I didn't get it at Best Buy, I got it at a local computing empire. But, I've been meaning to go over there and see if it's possible for them to get me a memory upgrade and/or if they can upgrade my diskspace, so I may mention this to them.

I know, and neither Mr. Ziffel nor Mr. Haney approved of it. Then again, they both were kind of old fuddy-duddies, so you probably couldn't have reasoned with either of them.
I don't think I ever recorded any movie off CN - I usually stuck with Disney Channel because, for the most part, they aired their movies uncut without commercials.
There seems to be some kind of curse with Jim Carrey . . . there's been too many movies where they wanted Jim Carrey but settled for Will Ferrell instead, and those movie tanked and bombed. Three specific examples come to mind:
ELF: Granted, I actually like this movie . . . I know everybody at...
