Exactly, unnecessary dialogue in the wrong places. Like for instance even back then as a kid I cringed at "You and the Naboo form a symbiont circle." That's a PowerPoint presentation, not dialogue.

I do get annoyed with clueless adults who just can't understand why every child isn't all smileys 24/7 like they are. The same kinds of adults that turn a blind eye to bullying.
Oh yeah High School for me was way better than Middle School. Middle School had an over abundance of bullies and cliques, mainly because it was such a small class. High School had more people and more opportunities to find people more in tune with you.
As I recall I gradually started noticing the problems with Phantom Menace once I had it on VHS. Mainly it was how they had directed the child actor and I still feel very bad for him. But it certainly wasn't all his fault. The dialogue given to ALL the characters was just plain painful to listen...
The thing is they are told from a young age that being "outgoing" is the better way to be and that's simply a myth. Outgoing and shy are just different from each other, but neither is better. You need both types in society.
