Early (pre-Kevin Clash) Elmo appearances (Brian Muehl and Richard Hunt)

That’s not even Kevin Clash performing Elmo, it was Jerry Nelson performing him as a one off monster.

Early (pre-Kevin Clash) Elmo appearances (Brian Muehl and Richard Hunt)

I find it interesting how the voice is very quiet and it’s not Kevin doing a Richard impersonation

I have to give congratulations for her becoming a mom. I honestly have some sneaking suspicion that they don’t really know what they’re doing for the Sesame movie.

That reminds me of the interview with I believe Norman Stiles where he state he wrote a script with The Count counting breaking pianos and afterwords Jon Stone told him only one piano breakage per season.

Sesame Street Special "Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary Celebration"

I’m going to use my last resort card, but remember Elmo went to two other generations of performers before Kevin got him. Also, it took until 2015 to get an Oscar understudy.

Plus Murray’s was basically a creation of Joey from the ground up. It’s hard to take over a character like that.

Sesame Street Special "Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary Celebration"

Horatio wasn’t dub by Joey, that was Peter Linz doing the voice. Plus Horatio has been a generic elephant puppet with a history of many performers like Dave Goelz, David Rudman, Marty, and Jen.

Sesame Street Special "Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary Celebration"

Like said before Elmo is one of the main stars and is a merchandising juggernaut. On the other hand, Murray was basically secondary and didn’t have that much merchandise
