I guess I should clarify: it's weird why they have him even walking at all. The background is 100% blank so you can't even tell if he's even going anywhere. It's totally unnecessary.
We've heard hints, yes, but no official word. They've made official statements on the High School Musical and Monsters Inc. series, but nothing official on the Muppets.
I haven't seen any formal, official announcement regarding the Muppets, though. Articles are saying "probably" and "maybe." Nothing official has been said thus far.
Jarrod, I'm fine with; his crankiness can be amusing and it's pretty much just a persona (I assume).
I'm sure JD and Steve are nice guys, but I cannot get into them. I think JD tries too hard to be clever, and Steve has always seemed like dishwater personified.
Because it looks like that's all there is. It's entirely possible the film won't be like the trailers, which rely 100% on "Puppets saying / doing naughty things and that's the only joke."
Blue comedy works when done right; from what I've seen of the other Henson Alternative projects, they seem...
I mean, I guess. It's another Elmo-centric release, though. I'm 99% certain it's because their home video sales have been in the decline (as has virtually every other company) and they know Elmo is a sure-fire thing to attract sales*.
*Funny enough, I was at the MOMI exhibit today and a...

I'm not following the story 100%, but it goes something like this:
Butch left Nickelodeon earlier in the year (or maybe near the end of last year) and has since just been doing clickbaity YouTube videos and podcasts. He then launched a Kickstarter campaign to create his own streaming service...
Sesame Street was shot on videotape, thus can't be released in high definition without being upscaled (meaning blowing up the image bigger; it doesn't improve the quality of the video).
I highly doubt they'll do anything Blu-ray unless it's from when they actually started shooting in HD. And if...
Shifting from Warner to Shout might explain the long delay between video releases. It might also be better for Sesame going into the 50th anniversary; it makes the odds of seeing some classic releases a little higher.
David's been doing Wayne and Julianne as Wanda.
Also interesting from today's ToughPigs write up is that they only had three days of rehearsal for this in the arena. That explains a lot of the repeats and the presence of Bobby; there was no time to do anything vastly different.
