The Muppets were never cartoon cute, and I think that's what Disney/Puppet Heap has tried to do with them. That said, we could do a whole lot worse.
Don't forget, it ain't the size/shape of the puppet.... it's what you do with it. :P
Yeah, the puppet doesn't look great, but who cares? It was a great appearance. Sometimes, Muppets don't really work on the late night circuit, and the jokes come across as really, really lame (thinking about Big Bird and Oscar on Colbert, some of Kermit's "I'm from the swamp" jokes.) But Dave...
Don't forget, though, that Henson also did a lot of Behind the Scenes style documentaries, and we have a wealth of production photos.
Disney keeps everything on the DL. All the "BTS" junk is usually the puppets making cutesy remarks and the co-stars pretending they're actually dealing with...
See, that's the thing. They're puppets. Men and women stick their hands inside them, and make them come to life. Once the hands come out, they lay on the ground or hang on stands, as unimpressive and uninteresting as discarded clothing.
The Muppet Performers deserve to be in the spotlight...
Yeah, no need for a sequel. It's a stand-alone classic. If they did a remake (not a fan of the idea, but just what if), I would want Terry Jones' original script to be used. I love the film, but I think Jones' original vision for the story was much more interesting.
I think the primary problem with the special is that it wasn't well-thought out. It was a lame attempt to promote a crummy album, with some Muppets thrown in. It felt awkward and forced. The clip above displays the best the special had to offer, and even that wasn't particularly funny.
Fair enough. I don't know why people watch that garbage. And having puppets on the show interacting with guests as if they're real makes me question how anyone with a functioning brain could think the show is "reality."
They're not going to get their own show. And if they do, it'll be on the Disney Channel, and feature F listers. Sorry. Truth.
No, Rob Schneider is better than the Studio DC Cast. Schneider at least tries to give back to the world, (without being forced to do so by corporate interests.) The...
The thing is, it's not about bringing new fans to The Muppets. The idea is that The Muppets will draw new fans (or at least viewers) to these crummy specials. The Muppets are a tried and true brand. They've lasted around sixty years. They've got a built-in fan base, as well as legions of...
