    Land of Gorch hatred

Steve Martin hosted the original SNL between 1976 and 1980 (the second-to-last show with what remained of the original cast). He, along with Buck Henry and Elliott Gould, hosted the most shows within those first five years. These three were often "go-to" guys (especially Henry), if the show...

    Land of Gorch hatred

The only time Steve (or any other host) was mentioned with the cast was on the 30-minute "Best of SNL" edits. These shows were syndicated eps of the 75-80 years, and at the top of each episode, the cast, with the host, was listed alphabetically. For instance, on the 30-minute edit of the Desi...

    RIP Richard Jeni

I'll always remember Jeni from his extremely short-lived sitcom, Platypus Man. Anyone remember this? It premiered in 1995 on the UPN, and was yanked after about four months. I was shocked to learn of his death. I actually found out about it on a DVD site.

    Land of Gorch hatred

Steve Martin was never a member of the SNL cast. He was a frequent host, but never a Not Ready For Prime Time Player.

Hmmmm...I'm not sure. I borrowed the CD from the library, but I didn't try it out on my computer.

    Johnny Cash Fans

Here is my list of what I consider to be the essential Johnny Cash... The Complete Sun Recordings 1955-1958 - As the title says, this is everything Johnny Cash recorded at Sun Records at the very beginning of his career. Most of the early classics are here, but there are several nice rarities...

    Johnny Cash Fans

I'm a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge fan of Johnny. I saw Walk the Line opening day, and was really impressed with Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal. Back to topic: Sorry, I don't have the songs you're looking for (movie versions, anyway; I have the originals). If this helps, the soundtrack album is...

    Your Favorite Musicals

I'd like to see a live Gilbert & Sullivan production some time. To date I've only seen the film version of The Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline, and the modern-dress Mikado with Eric Idle.

    Your Favorite Musicals

Oh yeah... I saw a rival high school's production of Grease, 'cause at the time I was dating the girl who played Frenchy.

    Your Favorite Musicals

As for the musicals I've seen (as opposed to the ones I've been in): Fiddler on the Roof - my high school put this on when I was a sophomore. After seeing it, the theatre bug bit me hard. That fall, I auditioned for my first-ever play, was cast in a great role, and 15 years later, have...

    Your Favorite Musicals

Well, I'm an actor-type fella, so I've been in my share of musicals. Here are some of the ones I've been in, and the roles I played: Cabaret - Cliff Bradshaw How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying - J. Pierepont Finch Guys & Dolls - Nathan Detroit You're a Good Man Charlie...

The Story of Jim Henson, Creator of the Muppets (Book).

Yep, I used to have this book (can't find it now). I bought it in Disney World in the early 90s. I agree, it's a great read, and a nice little primer on the life and career of Jim. I especially like the author's first-hand accounts of hanging with Lisa and meeting Jim.

    What are your stories?

Well, I enjoy...what are those felt & furry things that talk...used to have their own syndicated TV variety show...oh, right, The Muppets! What brought me here? Well, I was looking for a Muppet Show episode guide, and I stumbled here. The guides were great. Then I started...

    top ten favourite albums

Oops! The jacket I was wearing that held my ten alternate CDs was taken by the ship's mascot, a clever talking penguin:zany: ! Well, the jacket wasn't really taken...the penguin won it fair and square. He engaged me in a game of Texas Hold 'Em, and, well, I lost. The prize was my jacket...

Okay...suppose on my way to the deserted island, I lose the 10 albums I listed above. Now I'll be stuck on an island without music, right? WRONG! I smuggled 10 MORE CDs, sewed into the lining of my jacket (I hear the nights on some of those islands can be mighty cold)...

    Favorite Movie on MST3K

Remember the invention exchange from Manos? Dr. F presents the Chocolate Bunny Guillotine ("you have stolen painted eggs in a time of famine"), and Joel comes up with the Cartuner, a machine that mixes ambiguous and unfunny comic strips and makes them funny: Joel mixes "The Lockhorns" with...
