Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I don't know who did the animation, but I wonder if it's by the same company responsible for this almost-as-weird, almost-as-creepy piece:
I wouldn't be surprised if they were both done by the same people.
It's a shame Sesame Workshop doesn't put out an official guide (whether in print...
I wonder if there will be pages grouping most species. I figure there'll be pages for Penguins, Chickens, Rats, and most likely Frogs and Pigs. But I wonder about other animals, like Dogs. There aren't really multiple Muppet dogs who look alike (except Muppy and Rufus). Obviously Rowlf will get...
I am amazed by how long each chapter is. Not that it's a bad thing, but it feels like each chapter takes at least an hour to get through. Even if I don't stop reading to do something else like eat or go to the bathroom. I was reading one chapter while watching a two-hour movie (okay, I wasn't...
Some sequels I like better than the first:
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Back to the Future Part 2 (I think most fans like this one better than the first, though TV Tropes mentions the first under the "First Installment Wins" page)
National Lampoon's European Vacation
The Empire Strikes Back...
Old people stereotypically tend to say "back in my days..." (I say "sterotypically" because I don't think I've ever seen an actual old person in person say that or "when I was your age...", though I like to use those terms despite not being old yet), but when were an old person's days? And what...
What's the deal with Cheech and Chong being called Cheech and Chong? Cheech is his nickname, but usually the first name as far as stage names go (though he has sometimes been credited as Richard "Cheech" Marin, and sometimes even Richard Marin), while Chong is Tommy Chong's last name. They...
One thing that's kinda funny, and I should check other Henson biographies to see if this occurs in others as well, is that Jim Henson, as well as his family, is often referred to by first name, while other people are often referred to by last name. For example, if it talks about Jim Henson and...
I'm four chapters in and it's so great. There's a lot of interesting stuff I didn't know. All this time I thought that the entire run of Sam and Friends was two episodes a day, five days a week, but the book mentions there were times when the number of shows per week were different, as well as...
Last night I dreamt I was watching the final scene from The Muppet Movie, and actually spotted Lips there, in the back, right in front of Big Bird. And it made me wonder if the puppet had been around for two years before appearing on TV.
I got it for Christmas. So throughout the day, I would go straight to particular parts I wanted to read, back and forth, and then a few hours ago started reading from the beginning (though I'm only a few pages in to the second chapter).
As I was browsing, I did notice one mistake, which is...
So I read that Jane Henson created these puppets and they've been doing it for the last few years, only now actually broadcasting a performance. Was this fact known among Muppet fans? I was surprised to hear about Jane creating some puppets. Interesting fact.
I'd say it was okay. Of course...
Don't know how I feel about them showing The Muppets twice back-to-back while leaving out The Great Muppet Caper (but I'll forgive them for not showing Muppets from Space, and understand them not showing The Muppet Christmas Carol out of season).
The Crack Master is not in as much as this as I had expected. Couldn't they have just removed that part from the segment and continued airing the rest for years?
Of course this is a little different than I had expected. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention when reading the descriptions...
When the title and some numbers appear, I wonder if that first number - 6 - is supposed to indicate this was from the sixth season.
This was good. Maybe not great (aside from the rareness factor). Though the Crack Master scene was awesome. I wasn't expecting the others to be scared.
I don't think Robin looks like Kermit at all. He just looks like a small Muppet frog. He doesn't have Kermit's eyes or collar, and his voice isn't similar.
So what's "Janewary"? My first guess was a month-long tribute to Jane Henson.
I'm not surprised that The Muppets will be broadcast on The Disney Channel and ABC Family, especially after learning yesterday that The Muppet Movie will air on ABC Family in January.
And you know, with Muppets...
I'm not a fan of Duck Dynasty and don't really care either way if anybody from the show is fired or not for whatever reason, but yesterday me and my family were talking about this, and it got me thinking: The Duck Dynasty fans are probably most upset by this, and there are a lot of people...
