Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I see in the new issue of "TV Guide" they have a little review of this movie in their "Hits&Misses" section. It says:
"'Oz' without 'Over the Rainbow'? What's next, Miss Piggy as Scarlett O'Hara? The Muppet Mae West plays multiple roles here: all four witches. Kermit is a fine Scarecrow...
Another muppet question made Who Wants to be a Millionaire? yesterday. This one was only a $200 question and was extremely easy:
What popular Muppet was originally made from an old green coat once worn by Jim Henson's mom?
A. Cookie Monster B. Kermit the Frog
C. Miss Piggy...
Ah yeah I do recall both of those now that you mention them. I remember the sound of the dog growling! (began while the dog was still offscreen). The name Christopher Clumsy isn't coming back to me, however now that I think about it his voice and the artwork were indeed different than Julius...
How about these additional zzzzzzzzzzZ segments from zzzzzzzzZiffel !
(1) The often used boy anything muppet was playing hide and seek with 3 letter Z's, of various sizes. They kept hiding in the same places of the outside of a house where they fit in just perfectly. The boy wasn't able to...
Julius and Jasper
Remember these two men in several cartoons, Julius and Jasper?
One classic one that was very short but great has Jasper (the dumb one) standing with one leg in the air. Julius comes by and asks, "Why are you standing with one leg up in the air, Jasper?" Jasper says...
I well remember this entrie sketch, a very well done and enjoyable one. David is granted 3 wishes by Maria the genie and without hesitation says, "Oh I want a boat, I want a boat." Maria doesn't hear him correctly and grants him a coat. For his second wish he repeats he wants a boat but this...
Just looking at the site Wikipedia.org with their article on Joe Raposo and saw this sentence : "Raposo passed away in 1989. Many diehard fans linked his death to the start of a constant shrinkage of the irreverence that originally helped the show's popularity."
Interesting statement. While...
How about the song, "We're a family"? Was that also by Joe Raposo? I think this song played in a film that showed a family on a small boat or canoe. The words went sort of like, "And we're a family (pronounced with some emphasis on the ly ) a family , a family, a family, a family, a family...
Green Acres avatar!
Woohoo! I like this avatar of Fred Ziffel I have now. Been wanting something like this by my name. Now that it's here, let me quote what Fred would say: "Well I'll be doggoned!"
When I first read these posts about this double Bill Cosby alphabet segment, it didn't ring a bell. But now I think it came back to me. The "smart" Bill Cosby was on the right hand side of the screen right? And the "dumb" Cosby said the letters in some rather humorous ways didn't he? (I'm...
Just posted about the Ernie putting the vase away skit and recalled that this is another one where I think Ernie cried (because he had imagined the vase falling off the shelf and Bert being upset with him).
Actually, I think the skit where Bert says about Ernie, "He's gone bananas, right?" may be the one where Ernie puts the vase on the shelf and is afraid of it falling off. I can't remember how that one ends, but thinking it could be this way.
My (Ziffel's) 100th Post
Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd use my 100th post in the most recent of the "My 100th Post" threads.
Let's see, what else should I say? How about a few classic quotes from SS:
"I want a bock bock bock bock BOCK sandwich."
"I'll have a hot ruff ruff...
I don't think he cried in this one. After he twice says, "It's just not fair", he walks away with a frustrated sigh, "Ahhhhh." I liked that skit a lot, especially the music that plays while Ernie speed cleans.
But I just thought of one where I think Bert may have cried. "The blackout". Ernie...
Here's an article today that mentions what happened and also some latest details:
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/05/12/runaway.bride.ap/index.html
Also from CNN.com, I see the person is not going to pay the $15,400 for the Wilbanks toast...
Ernie crying more than Bert, and is he younger?
The purple hand one is the only time I can think of Bert crying (They probably were just trying to use a little variety in the closings and had Bert whimper instead of another exasperated sigh or scream!). But by contrast, there's quite a few...
Why, you're quite welcome. :) And that's a cool avatar you have from classic Sesame Street. I can't hear you , I have a banana in my ear. Good stuff!
Speaking of bananas, I recall an Ernie and Bert skit from the 70's where the last line has Bert looking at the viewer and saying about...
I haven't been here long enough to really have any specifics, but that's good because you all are fine people with fun, interesting, and upbeat posts. It's so great to talk about the muppets (especially classic Sesame Street which I love and miss enormously) with other muppet fans. I also like...
Yeah I also enjoy imdb.com and tvtome.com. mrqe.com is a good one on movies because you can see lots of movie reviews of any movie past or present (With movies released in the last 10 years it's often hundreds of listed movie reviews to select from). Wunderground.com is a good weather site. I...
