Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
The episode with the Roller Derby girls used a Pickle and Peanut-esque fake echo effect at some point. That was the worst of the new humor, but thankfully it was only used the once. I don't terribly mind the title cardy type stuff, but I agree that needs to be phased out. Maybe bring the...
Looks most like they're going to be our favorite kind of merchandising.
Yep.
Carnival/crane machine plush that are impossible to win and don't look too good.
This last episode really has shown the show has slowly progressed, and is starting to make use of the new characters added into the series. 2010's humor aside, this totally could have been an episode, provided the unicorn character existed. We got to see one of the few actual Mojo Jojo evil...
I don't see why a Muppet Spinoff focusing on various characters wouldn't work, but you can just see the comments of "why isn't [such and such] in the show? Fail."
I, too, want to see a project move away from the Kermit/Piggy type story. Anything that can be said about Muppets From Space, it...
If it's a matter of "keeping their word" on keeping those cast members around, that's going to be at least 2 seasons from now as at least most of season 47 has already been shot.
Ehhh... I get that Mattel desperately wants a boy's toy line that isn't based on an existing property that they have to buy the rights to. Something they can own. While they do have Hot Wheels, they really don't have an action figure line.
Thing that bugs the heck out of me is that they...
The Little Mermaid is a nobrainer for them to attempt. Ariel is still a popular princess, and that film was the film that brought back Disney's animated film department (because, you know, Oliver and Company and Great Mouse Detective apparently didn't count). James and the Giant Peach just...
That sounds like the more plausible explanation. I doubt these segments are that slow paced that they can't show them when before the half hour reformat Abby's Flying School sat their like a brick for 10 minutes.
Here's something for the old sitcom fan. A half hour version of the rare Mini-Munsters TV "movie"/pilot.
I have to admit, it's a step up from most of those kinds of shows in the 70's that wanted to be a ripoff of Archie or Scooby-Doo (often by the same companies that produced those shows)...
I'm sure those who actually were that out of the loop that they wouldn't know any of changes. I'd assume they'd also be surprised the show is still on PBS, which was an important part of the deal. You know, because when news is on the internet, if it's longer than a headline and an emoji, the...
And I'm sure the HBO co-production of the show has already been mishandled all over the place to begin with. Nothing's really going to come off as out of left field as that. Especially the lame jokes about how a channel that has a history of also producing kid's programming (sure, nothing...
On the subject of Dexter, while things can be said about the post Genndy episodes, I have a special place in my heart for the episode with Fred and Mar-10. It's almost as if it were a backdoor pilot to the show they should have had instead of the last season of Dexter's Lab. I totally would...
Ahhhh...Andy Dick back when people actually liked him. :D
I always loved when he said "it's my mmmmonkeyman job." One of my favorite episodes and it comes off a lot less of a tearjerker than the slightly similar Pigeon Man story.
Kinda wish there was a Sir Didymus Pop. He's easily the one I'd buy. Well, him and the Hoggle that they have. I'm much more into the DC ones, myself, but it's great to see Henson's two cult films get their appearances. And they'd sit so well next to the Muppet and Sesame Street Pops on a...
They all look wrong, though...
ehhhh...
I hate to say that I think the Dinosaur guys who were futzing around with time and space to make more show look pretty good. Like almost as good as that Bat puppet from that Japanese video game tips video in another thread, just as criminally misused.
Is there anything specifically special about this episode? The Muppet Wiki listing says it's a rerun of an older episode, but it sounds like the Smart Cookies segment was new.
Maybe they just decided to wait and use this episode as filler for next season?
A little bit back I posted under the "learn something every day" thread.
Before he created Angry Beavers, Mitch Schauer was executive producer of the ABC cartoon Wild West C.O.W.Boys of Moo Mesa, and indeed the show was produced by the same production company. For those who don't remember...
I feel the writer of this crossover gets the girls just a bit better than those who write the PPG series.
Still, I feel real bad for the PPG showrunners. Sure, I can agree the show's not as good as the original, but at least they're trying very hard not to alienate the original's fanbase on...
