Thanks, guys. That's the reason I've included these segments in the fic, even though they're more than half transcript: to show what's going on with cantus, what he's actually doing and why. And with whose help, heh heh.
Four down, one to go, and then I can start posting original fic again!
I didn't say that I was going to stop drawing, I was commending on the way I drew them. Ever since Dragon*Con, when Peter Linz demonstrated keeping the magic triangle visible for the cameras, for example by tilting the head so as not to show a simple profile, I've been aware of that principle...
Goodbye for now: Cantus says goodbye to li'l Clio. An illustration for chapter 17 of fic-in-progress The Minstrel's Path.
Note to self: stop drawing Fraggles in pure profile! Keep The Magic Triangle in view!
Thank you! Heh, I was surprised to see a reply to a year-old story, but then it is coming up on Vallen Time Day.
Yep, that episode is where I got Wembley's great hearing from. Hearing the water in rocks was pretty impressive, although bone conductivity had to have helped when he pressed the...

The Minstrel's Path
Part 24

It was early evening when the Minstrels arrived at the Gorgs' garden. They had learned to come by the hole near the well, as the one that led into the Gorg's castle was too risky. It wasn't the...
No torso, fewer things to worry about. He can't stub his toe or get dishpan hands. He doesn't get hungry. He doesn't have to go potty. Life's pretty simple when you're just a head stuck on a water bottle.
Not a drawing, but a thing I wanted to show off...
Bring me the head of Boober Fraggle! AKA puppet-in-progress. I just made Sidebottom, so of course Ima recycle his pattern for Boober. I spent much of today wigging him. Eight ostrich feathers went into that mop.
I've been buying these books too. They're a fun read. I've noticed that these slot nicely into a thing I've noticed with various Disney properties: an outsider becoming one of the characters he or she admires. Kilala joins the Disney Princesses, Walter joins the Muppet troupe, and Danvers has...
Wembley Fraggle has some distinctive facial expressions, some of which are so odd I can't even read them. Seriously, what is this supposed to be?
That said, I still love his rubber face, and how much expression Whitmire got out of it. He could smile, frown, whistle, swallow, enunciate, and...
This fic is so ambiguously exact. :smirk:
I wonder if anyone has noticed that what they call mittens aren't. They're fingerless gloves. The only one wearing mittens wss Boober, and in that episode it looked like Boober was wearing everything.
Cantus sees a huge potential in Fraggle Rock...
To quote Darkwing Duck, "You ever get that creepy deja vu feeing?"

The Minstrel's Path
Part 23

It was a frosty winter morning. The Fraggle colony the Minstrels were currently visiting was comfortable enough, as they had blocked the breeziest tunnel mouths and...
Glad to have helped! One thing I forgot to mention: this fur shrinks a little when you boil it, so either boil it before you cut it, or do what I do and cut the shapes large, then trim them to the pattern after boiling.
I buy a certain kind of fur, which is sold as "Punky Muppet" fur from Mendel's and "luxury shag" from Fabric.com. Same fur, but Mendel's has more colors and higher prices. If you're making a Wembley, I suggest the olive fur.
When I use the fur for a Fraggle, I boil it. Basically, I boil a...
Regarding strain of holding up puppets. I've walked around Dragon*Con with a puppet on my arm for hours on end without getting tired. It helps that I lift 15-pound dumbbells and have worked up a bit of muscle in my arms.
Aw, gawrsh, thanks!
I had an impressive blonde moment when making him. I made his pants, with the leg holes and tail sleeve and everything, and put them on him... and couldn't work him because I'd forgotten the flippin' arm hole. What kind of dingbat does that? So I went at 'em with a seam...
And the many "Dark Oz" comics (Oz Squad, Dark Oz, Oz/Wonderland Chronicles and many others I haven't bothered to buy), and lots of art (both pro and amateur) I see at cons and on the web, and some of the "Oz apocrypha" that is published, Wicked (the book!) and its followups only being the most...
So I has perpetrated another puppet. This time it's a replica of an existing puppet rather than an OC or comic book design...
Sidebottom's back! His front, too! Both of him!
Sidebottom in profile
This guy is all handmade, and not based on any patterns but what I created myself. His skin...
