If they are unused and/or the creator doesn't fight to retain exclusivity on said product/character/phrase for a period of five years in most jurisdictions (I think).
In the Jim Henson Hour episode Secrets of the Muppets, the animation company that Jim visits (in his demonstration of Waldo) is PDI, which now makes up half of Dreamworks Animation. And Rex Grignon, the on-duty animator, was head of character animation on the Madagascar films.

Eh, not my cup of tea. I did like what I heard of 'Ragtime Queen' and 'Time To Live As One', but the rest of them just seemed to sap the Fraggleishness (...that was English) from the songs.
Call me crazy, but I'd rather hear Fraggles singing Fraggle songs. :coy:
In the end, the trailer could be a minute-and-a-half of fart jokes and it movie would still be on my must see list.

That alone should be worth the price of a ticket.
