That stuff's worse than crack. Quitting is extremely difficult from what I've heard (luckily I am allergic to smoke and was never tempted to start the habit). Sorry your dad is suffering. : (
My Mexican in-laws keep alive the mordida tradition, where the birthday celebrant has their face pushed into the cake after they blow out the candles! (We generally do it gently, but it's still a faceful of icing!)
Thanks! Very tickled that you enjoyed this. It's clumsy and awkward (was my first ever fanfic) but I think it still has some decent jokes. Thanks for rereading and commenting!

Thai commercial for an insecticide featuring some of the best drama ever about a termite. Laughed til it hurt!
Tired, grumpy, sick of winter fighting spring...but so far everything today has gone well. Even stuff that I expect to be a hassle has gone swiftly and swimmingly.
Clearly I slipped into a parallel dimension at some point.
Ugh. I spent part of yesterday assembling our mini-greenhouse in gusty winds...decided to do it in the garage and then carry it to the patio, and it was still a fight until I was able to weigh it down with planters.
With the news of Notre Dame Cathedral in flames today... If you saw a fire/bomb/tornado coming to destroy a location significant to you, and you had enough time to run in and save one thing there, what would you rescue and why?
I'm positive he's not dead. His backstabbing attempt was too transparent. I think he made it, somehow, just real enough to fool Thanos. And yes, Ragnarok is hilarious, and actually brought some depth to both Loki and Thor.
Depends on which subreddits you follow. I suggest NOT bothering with "All" in your homepage settings. There are some excellent subs, full of intelligent and caring people. As with anything online, it depends completely on who/what you follow. r/awww, r/backyardchickens, r/animalsbeingderps, to...
At my mechanic's yesterday, saw a classic van done up as a Packers van: green and gold, Packers emblem on the side...which is not unusual here. However, it also had a ton of what appeared to be Precious Moments figures glued to the front dash. Dozens of them. Creepy.
Finally, a mostly quiet and routine day after a week of dumpster fires at work. And tomorrow my sweetie and I are attending an all-day seminar from the local Master Gardeners' Association. It'll make things feel more like spring, despite the chillysoggy weather all week.
Because when the law was being written in the Victorian era, and legislators asked the Queen whether it should apply to women as well, she replied indignantly that women would NEVER do such a thing! (apocryphal story)
Crappy week at work, but in trying to turn my thoughts away from stressful situations, it suddenly hit me how to get around the plot issue I'd been having in my current work in progress (writing). Which in turn improved my mood and helped me get through the worst of the week. Subjective proof, I...
Not a huge gamer, but I've been playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for a year now, and am ALMOST ready to take on Ganon. I love that this game has so MANY hidden things to discover. I can go back to an area I've already explored and I'll still find at least a couple of koroks or a...
There isn't a decent college rock station in my area, so I haven't bothered with local radio other than WPR in years. I actually kinda miss the local indie station in Tucson. My new music finds come from reddit or metafilter.
Encountered this a couple days ago. Not enthused about her softer songs, but the creepygorgeous visual aesthetic to this makes me want to go rewatch Hill House, and I can't get the music out of my head. We saw an interview with her and her brother talking about the sounds they recorded and used...
