The purple dinosaur gave us the change in the overall tone and feel of the show that still lingers on to this day. The blue dog gave us Elmo’s World and the change in format of the show. The bilingual explorer gave us Abby Cadabby, which destroyed the already working...
I blame three things for making Sesame Street what it has become today:
1. A certain singing purple dinosaur.
2. A certain blue dog and his clue-solving host.
3. A certain bilingual explorer.
You have to understand something, any existing children’s television broadcast recordings are far and few in comparison to regular television broadcast recordings. Most of them were either A. Taped over, B. Thrown out, or C. Sold at garage/estate sales. The odds of finding Sesame Street...
So... getting back to the matter of the virus, with all the stay-at-home mandates that have been put in place in some states (including my own), is anyone else getting vibes reminiscent of this classic Muppet song?
Well, if it’s done any good for the Muppet community, it has made the shot of Big Bird riding a horse in the Sesame Street opening theme song become a semi-popular meme (the one that says “We ride at dawn b*tches”).
1. I never watched Bear, nor did I ever have that much interest in it.
2. We're adults with actual lives that do not revolve around television shows made for toddlers 24/7.
