Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
They haven't used Janice a lot in recent years, so I think it's probably a matter of that and how comfortable David is performing the character. His Scooter is excellent, but yeah, I don't think he's quite nailed Janice yet. Her voice sounds less off in this than it did in the Super Bowl ad, though.
For the record, Jimmy Fallon did plug MMW when he was talking about the Muppets earlier in the show. He gave a wonderful speech in regards to the NBC Pipes.
Anyway, that was a great final musical performance, probably my favorite of all the Muppet appearances on his show. I especially liked...
Not to mention that all of the number songs sampled (sans Pinball Number Count) were written by Jeff Moss. Kinda makes me wonder if that was a conscious decision, or if they were just chosen at random.
I agree with your sentiments, Michael. You pretty much nailed the only two cons I have right now. Several months ago, I was particularly frustrated with the lack of Muppet merch where I live. The Hot Topic and BAM! stores, for example, have Funko POP! sections which carry Disney figures, though...
Man, I can't be the only one who thought these were going to air during the actual Super Bowl. :sympathy: These videos were awesome! Just about the only nitpick I had was that the last video ended on kind of a downer. Still, great eclectic mix of characters, even Pepe fits comfortably with the...
Hey, remember that cool commercial Kermit did for Wonderful Pistachios back when the last Muppet movie was released? Well, they done it again, this time with Piggy. (I can't embed the video, but it will probably be uploaded to YouTube eventually... )
Yeesh, practically everything's out of whack now. The lighting, proportions of the characters, even flaws I could overlook in the previous iteration (sorta small Fozzie) are now completely glorified here.
I get that Disney wants to establish a bit of unity in their advertising, and not every...
I WANT THAT ROWLF!!! :sympathy: I don't have a Rowlf doll yet, but I do already have a Constantine (meaning a crappy looking Kermit Christmas plush I could just alter anytime I wanted to. Just cut the scarf off, put a fake mole on it, and Viola!)
And yet the former episode was filmed months after the one that aired today.
Anyway, since no one's done this yet, I'll put up a couple of the segments here for viewing pleasure. First, the Word of the Day segment; unfortunately (or disappointingly), it may be the last new WOTD to...
For those who are interested, the special will also be airing on VH1 later this week ...and, if that's not soon enough for you, it's currently on Netflix (...I mean, really? Disney can't be bothered to dig up one of the old specials and, at the very least, make any of those available for...
Not to veer away from the topic, but I don't really understand why there's so much hate for the fart shoes joke. Do people just not realize that it's supposed to be a tacky and terrible attempt at humor? Are people offended just because Fozzie uttered the word "fart"? I don't get it.
For the record, the Muppets have dabbled in potty humor long before MFS (as Muppet Wiki proves). As long as they don't use it as a crutch, I can forgive a bit of it implied here and there.
Watching it right now. The version that's airing on ABC Family is the Blu-Ray re-edit of the theatrical version; which includes an altered shot from the musical number (a cropped pan of Scrooge through some blurry trees) before cutting to Rizzo and Gonzo.
I admit I'm not that big on "When Love...
I don't mind Vogel's Count at all, actually. Sure, he's not quite a dead ringer to Jerry's, but I really like the flair he's bringing to his performance.
Yeah, I noticed in a few recent instances, Eric pitched his voices for Bert and Fozzie higher, I guess in order to sound more like Frank...
To me, the voice and performance occasionally tends to vary from what I'm used to, but I have no doubt that will improve with age. Right now, Ryan’s Elmo is as good as it needs to be, and if he’s given the time and experience, it will get even better.
