Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I agree to an extent with what your saying. Although the Muppets are really for everybody, they do particularly appeal to certain people, and I guess if it was always on the level of, say, Adventure Time, in terms of popularity, it probably wouldn't be as special anymore. It's not that people...
At the books stores I've been at, I've actually seen quite a few picture books based on the Peabody and Sherman movie in past month or so. Wal-Mart is also selling two DVD volumes of the original cartoons. Kind of makes you think Disney should be doing something like that with the Muppet Show...
I remember seeing the 2011 Muppet movie on a snowy, stormy opening day. Besides me, my brother and father, and a couple friends, there were at least two or three other people who made it to the showing we went to. By comparison, in my two viewings of MMW this weekend, the audience, while not a...
Just figured I'd add that there's a couple sites (like tfaw.com) saying it's coming out on June 25th, and a couple others (Atomic Empire) saying it's out of stock. What's going on here?
I saw the movie earlier this evening and I'm pleased to say it met my expectations (and then some), in that it outdid the last movie in many respects. The jokes were more Muppety and silly (the fourth wall, shattered within the first couple minutes), the Muppet characters had stronger depth, the...
Just finished watching the videos (there's also a song-themed Q&A on the Fuse website), and I cannot get over how excellent Bill's Dr. Teeth sounds! He perfectly recaptures those golden Henson tones! :D
Cartoon Brew put up some preview images of the new CGI Peanuts movie, and according to the article, we'll be seeing a teaser trailer soon enough. Going by my last post, the look Blue-Sky is going for has elements of both column A and column B (the latter only really in terms of sheer detail; I'm...
Terry, your Muppet replicas never cease to amaze me! :)
I've been getting tired of reading complaints about the new official builds for Fozzie and Gonzo (really just of how prevalent it is right now), and while I admittedly like how the current Fozzie looks, this can really make one think of how...
Ugh, I'm getting sick of reading the same tired complaints about the new Fozzie and Gonzo puppets. Yes, Gonzo looks too clunky... but really, this has been coming up almost every other day now.
I would say no. I guess it can be faulted for just being lame or overly simplistic, but not any more than the posters we got for the last movie...
Realistically, it doesn't look like it was intended to be a major poster or a valuable piece of art; just some alternate (star-centered)...
I agree. All of the performers have been fantastic in taking on the classic characters, but on top of that, it's great that Dave and Steve are still around to lend a hand (so to speak).
... also, Jim died in 1990, not the late 80's.
Man, it's astounding the amount of hate that puppet is getting now. Not that I disagree that it's too bulky for it's own good, but jeez. It's like if he had a blemish on his nose for five years, and everyone was too polite to exclaim their disgust until now.
Anyway, Gonzo (and Dave) were great...
It's corny to say, but as great as it is to finally watch the first Ernie & Bert story in two years or so, it's made all the better by featuring most of the seasoned performers (Steve, Eric, Kevin, Joey, etc.) all working together. It's just fantastic.
I had a similar reaction to that when I first saw the trailer. Pat Warburton's played the same bumbling-butch-blowhard in almost every thing I've seen him in for over a decade ...and it's now that I'm getting annoyed with it?!?
Here's a statement from the Muppets Facebook:
"John Henson, son of Muppet creator Jim Henson, passed away this week. Many of us who work with the Muppets knew John as a friend and a performer. His passing is a shock and a terrible loss. Like his father, John brought incredible optimism to...
