Ken/Corndog has great prototypes, no question about it, but I can't afford his prices. I've been fortunate on these three to acquire them from less expensive sources.
I've heard the suggestion about the DK figures as a possible base for Sal, but I have never seen any in person to know if their...
I also took a comparison pic of the regular white shirt Lips (left) with the proto (right).
Very happy with both of these, and my Mega Checkered Gonzo. Now if I could just find a prototype seller offering Sal the monkey!
Alex
Well, I have now bought ANOTHER Muppet prototype, my third so far. It is the one I paid the least for, and the one I am happiest with!
On the left is the WW Dr. Teeth that arrived today, on the right is the white shirt Lips proto that arrived April 20th. Not pictured is the Mega Gonzo in...
Think about how old these figures are. If the paint is still tacky so many years later, it's not GOING to dry. It's a chemical problem, a glitch in the manufacturing process. Somewhere I have an email from Ken Lilly that explains what happened, I don't remember all of the technical terms. Browse...
Photos would help us to give better specific responses, but just speaking generally...
Sculpture benefits greatly from an under-structure. If you were building a real human being from scratch, you wouldn't start with the face and work your way down, right? You'd start from the inside, the...
I didn't have a Blu-Ray player when these first came out, so I didn't bother buying them back then. Now I have one, though, and the other day I found these in a bin at Wal-Mart for about $8 each. Watched them both, one last night and one today, and enjoyed the new features, but mainly savored...
Got my PVC's and two plushes today... Rizzo and Walter looked waaay too cozy when I opened the box.
Posting a video soon that will show what I mean.
Alex
Or leave them in the package, but unless you already know which ones tend to stay tacky, you don't know until after they're opened. Sort of a Catch-22.
Alex
Guess what I got in the mail today?
A prototype of white-shirt Lips. This is my second Palisades prototype, following my purchase last year of the checkered suit version of Mega Gonzo.
Ironically, I spent about half for the prototype Lips that I did for a carded white-shirt Lips a few years...
Sad to report, I have yet to find a cure for this problem. It's a chemical glitch with those figures during the manufacturing. The plastic and the paint react in a weird way.
Don't wash the figure or the paint may come right off. Happened to me on a white-shirt Lips for which I had paid a LOT...
The bumps could be a result of many different things:
They may be present in the Sculpey, and just harder to see until it gets painted.
If you're brushing on the paint, it could be something on the surface of the item or in the bristles of the brush, or perhaps the paint needs to be thinned...
Hey, I did a double-take when I saw that, thinking it was mine! You know what? I think I like the plastic cape better. How did you do the knurled effect of the shirt cuffs?
I'm totally flattered that you liked my recipe well enough to use a similar approach, but you've made it your own. Way to...
I found a very similar quote, but sorry to report they don't say "Ed", at least not in the scene I just watched.
When Gary has just scrunched Walter into a ball to throw him over the electric fence outside Kermit's mansion, on the commentary track Jason Segel says that the gag harkens back to...
