"Back to Sesame's Future" - Another Lamefic from D'Snowth

The "beer/beard" misunderstanding from Kermit's hair lecture is priceless, Convincing John; it ought to turn up somewhere, since early Sesame Street was full of those little jokes for parents watching along with the kids. I could just imagine some AM hippie mistakenly getting arrested by an AM...

    Old School DVD set ideas

Some of the "teen" numbers got their own segments (mostly songs) in the late 80s/early 90s. We've already brought up "Just Take a Look at 15", but these come to mind as candidates for the "Old School Numbers (11-19)" disc in my hypothetical set-- "Lucky 13" (sung by a cowboy mouse riding an...

Bert and Ernie Gay Rumor: Settled

Anyone who interprets that "tending every seed we sow" lyric as evidence of Bert and Ernie being gay (even with Bert's warning to Ernie at the end) is taking things seriously out of context. Whatever affection Ernie was thinking of displaying in front of the audience, it didn't look sexual...

Music video parodies you wish Sesame could have done

That would've worked when the curriculum advisors decided the number 1 was worth teaching on its own; counting one object by itself seems pointless, but teaching that counting has to start somewhere is a reasonable approach... "Steve counts kids goin' down the street, starts the number way...

Music video parodies you wish Sesame could have done

Some parodies that would've worked in the 70s or 80s, when the audience was older and had parents watching along more often-- "A-B-C" by the Henson 5, a mixed-gender quintet of AMs with Roosevelt Franklin's coloration and funky outfits (an alphabet-teaching parody of the Jackson 5 song) "One...

Lost some episodes after computer problems, help needed!

    Thanks, Oscarfan; you're a lifesaver! I think there were two other shows you sent me that I lost later...I'll need to check the episode numbers before I get back to you, though. {{{big hugs}}}

Lost some episodes after computer problems, help needed!

A little over a week ago, my external hard drive (where I kept my entire collection of classic Sesame Street episodes) stopped functioning. I've been able to recover most of that collection thanks to a close friend, but am still missing three more episodes if I remember correctly: #2558...

D'Snowth's Scale Model of Sesame Street

I kind of miss those oil barrels too; they're one little detail I've remembered from Big Bird's nest scenes after all these years.

Episodes that Have Stuck with You

Three random memories of episode plots that have stuck with me since they were on the air: Cookie Monster eating Hooper's Store piece by piece, being VERY literal about Mr. Hooper's instruction not to eat the cookies... :insatiable: The Count having trouble remembering the number 4...

"Back to Sesame's Future" - Another Lamefic from D'Snowth

Well, as a certain giant bird taught us both, everyone makes mistakes. Maybe you can work him into a later chapter...hint hint hint! :wisdom:

D'Snowth's Scale Model of Sesame Street

I love the way your model's gone back to the old-school era lately; would you mind if I published some shots in my Sesame Street Block Party blog? Of course, I would give you credit....

    Character Departures

Mumford's last appearance was in a season finale from the early 2000s, though I forget the exact season/episode number; the story was a two-parter that focused on Big Bird getting shrunk by Mumford's botched magic. Anyone got the episode number and/or the season?

    D-U-C-K-I-E: an underrated song

Without Ernie's prologue explaining what he does in the bathtub, "Rubber Duckie" might have been classed as a song about emotions (his attachment to the duck) or imagination (treating his duck like a live friend, though that classification's a stretch). Either way, it's a classic that deserves...

    D-U-C-K-I-E: an underrated song

If I had been a producer for that segment, I would indeed have included the letters--each one appearing in order as Ernie sang the relevant line, then the whole word "duckie" highlighted when he sang "put them all together, they spell 'duckie'".

    D-U-C-K-I-E: an underrated song

Judging by the melody and lyric structure, "D-U-C-K-I-E" is a parody of Eddy Arnold's "Mother (a Word That Means the World to Me)". That one was indeed less upbeat than the tunes Sesame Street usually chooses for parodies...and familiar mainly to the older adults watching with their kids. (The...

"Back to Sesame's Future" - Another Lamefic from D'Snowth

Bravissimo, it's the little details that count in a story like this--both physical ones like the street sign and behavioral ones like Cookie being more aggressive. If Big Bird was that astonished over meeting his past incarnation though...I can only imagine how he'd react to seeing Mr. Hooper...

"Back to Sesame's Future" - Another Lamefic from D'Snowth

Awwww, that's a shame; I too am a fan of both classic Sesame Street and the Back to the Future trilogies. If this existed as a direct-to-DVD set for the adult fans, you can bet I'd be curious to see how the story went on! :insatiable:

    Funniest SST Moments

The calm, understated "We hear anyway" in the middle of Kermit's rant only adds to the humor. You'd think that Grover would learn his lesson after a few anatomically impossible sales, and stick to human customers. :super:

    Typewriter Guy

Ouch. That still doesn't make your friend stupid or bad though; I've had very close real-life friends with interests (Star Trek, Harry Potter, classic rock) which I didn't share at all. Your buddy's not knowing of Jim Henson would be akin to my not knowing of the original Star Trek producers...

    Typewriter Guy

Typewriter Guy isn't as major a character as Bert and Ernie, so he'd be known mostly to other Sesame fans who grew up with the old cartoons. Chances are good that your friend didn't grow up in the 70s/early 80s, rarely watched Sesame Street, or both.
