Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
It seems like I’m the most enthused about saying yes to the offer, but it sounds complicated right now, so as of the moment I’m waiting for someone else to take action.
They also re-did the "This is Mr. Smith Hat" animation with the words "Glenn hat". Glenn (Rita Moreno) wore those words on her head - they were her hat!
The last episode (along with Episode 8A) literally pitted Spidey against The Wall, a humanoid wall set out to ruin a baseball game by getting closer to the field and causing an unfair home run! But again, the web-slinger couldn't win - umpire Morgan Freeman shooed them both off the field. "Lucky...
Remember seeing a female figure who looked suspiciously like Mel Brooks' blonde-haired cartoon man? Above her were the words "Who is that?"
She left, leaving "Who was that?" in her wake.
Hidden three-letter words popped up a lot in Season 3. "Can" was one, as the Short Circus sang about Candy Candles. "Win" was another, appearing inside such words as "window" and "winter". And let's not forget "sun" - remember when Hattie Winston sang about her love for ice cream sundaes?
I like Electric Compant because it covers all the letters of the alphabet. Here they are, in order of frequency (so far)…
I has definitely been in the most episodes I‘ve seen so far.
G, O, R, and U aren’t far behind.
B, L, and Y come after that.
C, H, M, and T are somewhat rarer.
D, E, J, K, P...
“Hey, what’s this?”
“That’s the plug, stupid. Now the raft will shrink! What are we gonna do? Think, think!”
“I know what we’re gonna do!” “What?”
“Sink!”
“Remind me not to take you next time.”
And another one: a passerby asked a sculptor, “What are you making?” “SH”, the sculptor replied, as he was carving those two letters out of stone. So the passerby whispered, “What are you making?”
On the subject of BR words, Morgan layed “bricks” on a wall and Rita showed off her “bracelet”. Then Skip put toothpaste on his “brush”… and brushed his HAIR with it!
So then… how does he use his hairbrush?
Watch out for the letter W - chances are you’ll get soaking wet if that letter’s involved.
Just ask Luis, Skip, and Jimmy, who, in stop motion, spelled out the words wax, wag, wig, and wit on their shirts. Then, Skip took off his I shirt, revealing an E, and…
SPLASH!
”That’s WET!“
A little punctuation changes everything. Rita narrated this one, of course.
”Hey, you guys.”
The period changes into a question mark.
”Hey, you guys?”
The question mark turns into an exclamation mark… everyone cover your ears…
”HEYYYYY, YOUUUU GUYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYS!”
Also, remember when Morgan...
Vincent could be a bit hard of hearing.
First he misheard Luis‘ request for “tea with cream” as “tea with scream”, letting out a high-pitched scream at him!
Then, at the shoe store, he misheard another EA word and gave him a pair of “leakers” by pouring water into his shoes.
And remember when he...
Some EC songs can be real tearjerkers.
How is Howard - Judy reminisces on her old boyfriend (Skip), even remembering the two of them dancing together.
I’m a Sneaker Freak - Jimmy sings a sentimental ode to his old, worn-out pair of shoes.
I Was Young Once Too - Jimmy plays an old man recalling...
“If your name were Ted, we could own the world!”
That was by Bruce Cayard, who also animated this one: a man reads a sign.
”He bites.”
He notices another man holding a dog.
”Awww, he bites?”
Then he gets bitten, not by the dog but by the other man!
“Oh, HE bites!”

Being utterly, brutally frank
We’re the trio the team has to thank for its fame!
Shortstop to second to first
If you like, we can do it reversed

Boy, June Angela was really driving the point home on that one! One of your scarier sketches…
…unless you remember the song about signs at the carnival in which you got a brief peek at these two things: “The Fun House where you’ll laugh til you cry, the Haunted House where you’ll scream…”
