Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies (Up until the mid-1940s there was a difference), MGM Cartoons (Though, as at WB, some of the early Harman-Ising stuff can get tedious), Popeye (those from the movie theatres, anyway, as well as the comics of Sagendorf and what I've seen of Segar), and the early, less...
I also remember the Barkley ending. Specifically, I remember the part where everyone disappears behind a tree. As a kid, I wondered how those kids and that dog did that.
One thing I'm kind of surprised they haven't taken out is the following quote from the "getting dressed" segment of "Elmo's World"
"Coming up next...Socks and the City."
Kind of like how Rowlf and Dr. Teeth sound alike (though Dr. Teeth's voice has a bit more "jive" in it, if you know what I mean).
Or like how Fozzie sounds like Bert with a hint of Grover, who, if he whispered, would sound a lot like Yoda, which is what Piggy sounds like when she tries to...
In the U.S. and Canada, of course, it was the same person who started the series as Doc. I was speaking about Britain, and I don't know whether all the Captain's episodes were in the can when he passed or whether they needed to do something different. Any Brits care to comment?
As far as I know, the North American Doc is, but that may not be the case in some other countries. According to IMDb, his British counterpart had passed before the series was even complete.
Really, I thought ghee-air-moe was really easy to pronounce (but then again, I'm a Spanish major)
I've never had trouble with people mispronouncing my name, but spelling sometimes gives them fits. Apparently whoever wrote that famous spelling rhyme never knew anyone named "Keith". Even my dad...
I'll have to disagree with ssetta's opinion on the matter. Sure, we'd all like it if there were more than 26 episodes in the new season, but it seems to me that the quality of those 26 is every bit as good as that of the hundred-some-odd that were produced each year when I was a kid. The newer...
One of my favorites was when Ray Romano was trying to explain the concept of "frustrated". I like it because it is one of the best interactions between guest and Muppet there is.
I agree about Wayne Brady's appearances, both the "Between" skit and the other one that aired this season (the...
I don't know why people are complaining about the new puppeteers' having voices just a little too high or too low. I usually can't tell any difference. In fact, I can tell the difference between Jim Henson's early Ernie ("Rubber Duckie") and his later one ("Do de Rubber Duck") much more easily...
I think that, when Kermit is needed, Sesame Workshop will need to make similar arrangements with the Henson family that they had with EM.tv. After all, SW still own all the other Sesame characters.
