I agree. If the puppets resembled a certain character, I'd be concerned. But just because it's a good-looking character, I don't think they have the right to do that. I hope I create puppets half as good as the Muppets, the PBS characters, and yes, even the Crank Yankers.
And once someone...
And you want Classic, owner of Casper (if they ever use him and their other characters), and Sesame, who, despite producing the precious "Sesame Street," is still a producer of preschool shows like Sesame, DragonTales, and whatever else? No one defines "kiddiedom," especially the preschool/baby...
It's Mickey vs. Casper. The race (if you can call it that) is on. Don't give a care about Sesame owning Henson, but man, there's always drama.
Hope you lose, Casper and Big Bird!
There's some article about it in Muppet Central News' 2000 archive.
BTW, I also just found a lengthy Reuters/Hollywood Reporter article about a possible Classic Media/Sesame/Sony alliance to buy Henson. Since I don't know how to copy articles on here, maybe someone else can find the article...
No no no no no. You just wrote it in a way that my slow brain couldn't understand. You said he "has been known" instead of "had been known" to say things under Jim Henson and I got lost.
Moving right along...
Oh, OK. I thought you meant something else.
Yeah, I recently took the time to see the MuppetFest Photo Gallery and was shocked to read that, in some Muppet Show pitch video from the 70s, Jim's Kermit came and said "What the **** was that?" And I thought it was amazing 'cause he was a Sesame...
All Eisner needs to do once he gets them--if he gets them--is, at first, continue with the Muppet show for Fox that was announced last year, continue production on any other show Henson is working on or planning on (and their shows are mostly preschool anyway), and put the classic series and...
A sitcom would be cool, especially if it was set in the boarding house from MFS. It would be cool and a change of pace if we saw the Muppets just get into weird situations in this crazy house and not just putting on a show.
$70 million ain't cheap enough? It's better than the $200-250 million talked about two years ago.
And, from my standpoint, if it's just for the characters and library (if that's even an issue now), so be it. I'd rather have "Jim Henson Co." acquired, but EM.TV isn't even throwing in the...
and on. :)
Gees, I wake up early for a change seeing if there's an announcement and I get this.
What's interesting is that in other EM.TV press releases at the site, they always mention "several interested parties" and things like that. Now it says it's in final stages of negotiations to...
From EM.TV's website:
EM.TV & Merchandising AG agreed with its consortium banks regarding further partial repayment of the so-called "Junior loan." According to this agreement EM.TV will pay EUR 12.5 million, or half of the residual debt of EUR 25 million. The banks have decided to extend...
