    The "You know what?" thread

That’s why it’s kinda nice, a lot of older groups- Beatles, Stones, Elvis, Dylan, etc. will always be around. At one time they were also regarded as here today, gone tomorrow. But they stand the test of time. Maybe Lindsey Stirling Will be more than just a Flavor of the Month.

Christmas: Are they shoving it down our throats too early?

For the next 8 weeks we’ll be in a state of HalloThsnksmas. I know retail, and I know as soon as one holiday is over, gotta push the next one. It’s one big hustle. Before Christmas even comes they’ll be pushing Valentine’s Day. Thanksgiving gets lost in the blur of turkey, football, and Arlo...

Halloween is just around the corner

Alex, you look very salty. My street is a little off the beaten path, but five trick-or-treaters still showed up. The first one couldn’t have been older than two. She was Snow White. She looked lovely, but looked absolutely terrified. Her daddy did all the talking. The sight of a long-haired...

    RIP Sean Connery

Connery was the best James Bond, although Roger Moore came close. He’s having a Martini in Heaven now. Shaken, not stirred.

Silly things you said, did, or thought as a kid

This lake was actually man made. One side is ****** up. No powerboats allowed, but plenty of sailboats, canoes, etc. The bottom is almost all sand, so almost no algae. The deepest part is 8 feet . Most is less than 6 feet, so you can almost walk from one shore to the other. Although it’s not a...

Silly things you said, did, or thought as a kid

Once when I was eight, I wanted to go swimming. But it was pouring rain. But my dad still said, “Go ahead!” So I walked the short distance to the lake, planted my butt in an inner tube, and floated around for an hour while it was raining buckets. It was actually kinda neat! If there was any...

The New Am I The Only One Thread

Speaking of IHOP, before COVID, they used to have the little jars of syrup in a rack. Maple, raspberry, blueberry, and boysenberry. Just the smell of the syrups can give you a contact high. Now I only eat sugar-free syrup, but IHOP is still wonderful. Breakfast meats are salty. Turkey bacon and...

Definitely not eggs, but maple syrup does make a good glaze for baked ham and carrots. Last year I was at a state fair and someone was selling hickory syrup. Not quite as sweet as maple, but it made a fantastic glaze on roast pork.

    Bible Study

Why did God create everything? May I introduce you to this book called Genesis. The first chapter covers everything. I’m a bit surprised you being this far in your studies, and nobody ever explained this to you?

    Bible Study

Why does a loving God allow people to go to 773H? (See, I’m not afraid to mention that place, because like Heaven and Earth, it does exist). Well, first John 3:16- He so loved the world He sent His only begotten son to die for our sins. After Jesus made that sacrifice, and people still turn...

    Bible Study

II can tackle this much. Why does God allow evil? Because He gave us the freedom to choose between good and evil. He could have designed us to be mindless robots and just bow to Him. But he gave us the freedom to-make up our own minds. Is it His fault people choose evil? No. Does it grieve Him...

I know losing your grandma is rough. I was about your age when I lost mine. The only thing worse than the virus is the fear it generates. The best we can do, and it’s been true right along, is wash your hands, wear a mask, keep your distance. Until a cure or a vaccine comes (hopefully soon)...

    COVID-19 Coronavirus News and Updates

Cases are up, but deaths are down. Yes, the virus is claiming on average a thousand lives a day, and one death is too many.. But 200,000 deaths in a country of 330 million, that works out to 0.0006%. On average though, one person dies in this country every seven seconds. That includes 25,000...

I got a machine from Target that’s a combination record player/CD/tape deck. The biggest drawbacks with tape decks and VCRs, sometimes the heads would chew the tapes up. It was a chore pulling the tapes out when they got jammed, and if the tape broke, they were no good anymore. I still have a...

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

Five bucks for a cup of coffee is outrageous anyway. For half the price I’ll go across the street to Dunkin’. Yes, it’s not Dunkin’ Donuts anymore. I’ll bet you soon it will just be a D.

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

At least one other tradition is still intact. NBC will still show “It’s A Wonderful Life” on Christmas Eve. This is another special, 30 years ago, you could find any channel on regular tv or cable, and find it playing somewhere. It’s nice the Bailey family have a home. Merry Christmas, you...

@Old Thunder, I recommend to you on YouTube a song by Pink Floyd called One of These Days (I’m Going To Cut You Into Little Pieces). It might become your newest favorite.

Your Time Is Gonna Come is the opening track on Side Two of their first album. Yes folks. Once upon a time we listened to music on these big, slowly-rotating vinyl discs. When one side was over, you had to take the needle off, flip the record over, put the needle back on just right, and you got...
