What Movie are you Currently Watching?

Mac & Me, sort of a late '80s E.T. ripoff: boy meets and befriends lost alien, yada yada. Overall very cute, but known for one of the worst product placement scenes of all time! ::shudders:: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdvO0tmNjGo

    Fraggle Pairings

I always thought of it as the Gorgs went exist but Pa and Ma Gorg are just too clueless to accept the reality that their rule is over.

    Tween Dora?

Well this isn't a company but I admired that Lazy Town show for encouraging exercise and activeness. Plus it could be very funny and not just preachy. ;)

What if Disney bought Sesame Street too.

Which I hear is what's happened at Sesame Place, which disapoints me. Like the show, the park used to be more of an ensemble piece.

Congress to get bigger spending boost than domestic programs

Perhaps they would make good write-ins next time around. ;)

    Fraggle Pairings

Personally, I'd like to see Mokey and Junior have some more interaction to see what happens. I know the age was off, but they had a sort of nurturing connection, lol.

    Tween Dora?

Yup! That's why it upsets me so much when companies say, "Oh those shows are too old for today's kids." Good entertainment is timeless. Kids deserve the best, not just what's new. ;)

    SST 40th Anniversary Event

Now now, it's not every day these people get to express their appreciation to their heros, hehe. But yes some questions could have been shorter. ;)

    Tween Dora?

I agree, even the silliest '80s stuff was better than most of the current shows. ;)

    Tween Dora?

Change is fine as long as it's good change. And not simply an attempt to turn kids into sheep. ;) I think Dora is a good role model in that she's a nice girl and the hero of her show. However, the show does talk down to kids. It doesn't challenge them the way Sesame Street used to. It makes...

Hey Cinderella and The Frog prince .

Yeah overall pretty harmless; I know a couple of Henson books said the strength of these stories was more the anachorisms and off beat humor. :)

    Tween Dora?

Thank goodness for that! And parents who raise strong kids who are able to be themselves and make their own decisions, even when it's hard. I actually think the original Dora was a pretty good role model overall. Hopefully this new idea won't be a repeat of "New Coke" (as that article...

Totally, there's so much potential that's going unnoticed.

No you're absolutely right, bloomers were a good thing for women. :flirt: Yeah I mean to me it's just society's attempt to convince kids to be sheep. All looking and acting and talking the same and enjoying the same entertainment (and incidentally, buying the same merchandise ;)).

    Tween Dora?

You and me both, hehe. I love old fashioned clothing. But still, that's a very modern interpretation. In the old days, women's attire was made to separate them from men, in a non-flattering way. The idea that women needed to worry about looking pretty because they weren't allowed to be concerned...

    Tween Dora?

Well it shouldn't be looked down upon, but it's been used so often with bubbled-head female characters. I think the idea is that it's not exactly a functional outfit, heh, and so naturally girls would be the ones wearing them. :p

    Tween Dora?

I think you're right, but that also presents the concerns I mentioned before. That they might protray her as sort of a giggling mall-girl. I'm amazed at the amount of kids shows that still protray their girl characters that way. I guess it's mainly to get girls to keep buying the merchandise, heh.

    Tween Dora?

Well I think she looks kinda cute and all, hehe. It's just that I'm being reminded of Polly Pocket being thrilled to death about new shoes at the mall, lol.
