Yeah I know what you mean. I think it people seem timid, it was mainly because they didn't want to get in trouble with the mods or anything. They're not sure what their reaction would be.
But what's strange is that I think 2-4 year olds watched Sesame Street, even back in the '80s. It's not like it was unwatchable back then for that age until Elmo came.
And I still agree. ;)
Ahhh, OK thanks! I do think that represents a big part of the audience. Despite their claims of...
Well the thing is, for me Kermit is Jim Henson. So for me anyone else who does it is imitating and "reminding." That's just how it is for me. But in this performance, the vibe just felt very right.
I won't compare performers too much, they're all professionals, we can't get up and do what they...
Honestly, while I think Steve's Kermit is fine, it hasn't ever really reminded me of the Kermit I grew up with. So again, I think there's been more than one Kermit for awhile now.
It's just interesting how even on youtube (presumably made up of some non MC members) this debate is going on. Some don't like the performance. Others are saying this is what Kermit used to sound like. I have to agree with the second group.
Well the one in Letters to Santa did a good job with the personality, IMO. I think the voice was more accurate in MWoO. It's a very complex issue! :search:
Even that sounded like Jim to me, the way he cracked his voice.
Even some of the youtube posters are asking, "Don't you remember how Kermit used to sound? This is it!"
Ok, now I've seen it and can comment!
I can actually see what both sides are saying. This performance was a bit rougher, needs polishing. I think also because it was singing, not talking.
But I can also totally see where the performer is going with this. It does remind me of early Kermit...
Yeah I understand, well you know, I remember seeing one of Steve's first performances as Kermit in the early '90s and it was kind of stiff at times. It takes awhile to develop these things.
This Kermit at the VMA's did impress me though. :)
I know what you mean about seeming rough, but still I really liked it, I wouldn't mind seeing this again. It wasn't just the voice that felt right; the vibe was just on somehow.
I'm not comparing performers or anything, they're all professionals. Just saying it did sort of feel like hearing...
I liked that a lot; it does sound like Jim, I almost did a double take.
Sorry if some people didn't like it but I feel it was very accurate.
And yes, I hope everything's OK with Steve.
Is the "new" Kermit this one at the MTV VMA pre show?

If it is (and correct me if I'm wrong), I'm sorry guys, but I have to admit that did remind me a lot of Jim, I liked it a lot.
Wait, if that's the Kermit everyone's been complaining about...then I'll have to disagree with them. I think he was great, that did sound a lot like Jim! First thing I thought of.
I don't mind the character, more so the whole monopoly, how he's taken over. It reminds me of the reality shows that for some reason remain so popular.
