Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I'll check to see if they're at Wondercon SF this week. And - this is the thing. I'd like to buy some things at the con, but I'm still saving for Rizzo. Their payment plan is out for me (discussed a while back with Bryan here) so I'm stuck wondering what I should do. It would be nice for a...
EFX has yanked our fan chain a little too often. I don't think anyone's jumping the gun here. They should have said something official by now. A whole quarter year has passed. It's time. And seeing how sketchy their site looks right now, not even acknowledging 2010 in their news section, I just...
The tragic and premature end of Jim Henson's life must be noted and felt in this film, but the focus and tone should be on Jim's life...not this morbid dreck. I see interesting possibilities, but the author is nowhere near the mark here. Disney and Henson will definitely alter 95% of this script.
I have to agree with this.
Also, Segel is the guy who initiated this project in the first place and lit a fire under Disney to get it done. I don't see why he can't be a human lead just as Charles Grodin was in GMC and Juliana Donald was in MTM. Segel's a funny guy and a perfect personality...
I have to agree with all of this. I think someone like Segel is a good fit. I found MFS to be self-indulgent attempt to fit into the times that backfired. They had a great idea from the original Muppet Man himself - Jerry Juhl, but destroyed it for something much more pedestrian. Sure, MFS...
I've contacted them via their website. Here's the message I sent:
"Greetings! I'm James, the staff graphic designer for fan site Muppet Central, freelance artist (formerly with Palisades’s line of toys among other companies) and I currently manage Action Figure Freddy, a collectibles toy shop...
Nonetheless...
I know we're not entitled to anything, but I still feel like customers should be treated a little better - especially in this delicate market.
I believe in the EFX mission to give fans such great collectibles as Rizzo; however such a market is fickle. Please, for the love of...
Thanks! I just visited the location today and we should be open one week from Monday (right after Wondercon SF). It's a great little space and postcard views all aroung the area.
I will put my Master Replicas Muppet posers on display there. If EFX Rizzo ever happens we'll probably order one...
The cel strikes me as a collection of separate clip art rather than a whole composition of interacting Muppet characters. That's the problem. It's an assembly, not a scene. Still, I'm glad they have something like this. Maybe they'll create a better one sometime. Get one of the Boom artists...
You might not have noticed, but the little toyshop I managed in San Francisco closed down in February due to the horrible economy and the tucked away location. Well, I got word today that Action Figure Freddy is coming back, and this time we'll be in SF Chinatown!
The life of a freelance...
I think the juxtaposition of a normal and not depressing Kermit/Muppet world would be a good way to play off of the real-life Jim Henson sequences instead of a direct parallel.
I agree. We're not entitled to anything, of course. EFX doesn't have to do anything differently, but they really should.
We haven't heard any firm news from them since they posted the Rizzo pictures last fall. If this product isn't happening I'd like to invest that savings in other things...
Do we know anything about the Muppets? Is EFX on its way out? Is this just a temporary sabbatical or has the company always been more of a side project? I'm concerned.
It would be best if they'd say something, anything, to give fans confidence that things are still going forward. Their site gets no updates and treats 2010 as a year that doesn't exist.
In the past we've gotten the line that news was coming "very soon" and that news is never received. I'm...
Fantastic! Pitch perfect. The Mayhem is back at 100%.
I hadn't seen Zach Levi's comment and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but yep, he is somewhat of a *#* here. I don't understand his reasoning behind the comment. I like his show, but that is disappointing. Maybe...
