Smurf Villiage Appearance
The new Smurf Village can be seen in this new trailer for "The Smurfs". I'm still not sold on the idea of what they did to the Smurfs, but this trailer does have some moments that access my childhood recollection of the characters. Plus NPH is in it. ;) Anyway, thoughts?
I like the casting in this scene. I think Jane Lynch was up for the Wanda Sykes role and that Charles Grodin was intended for the Danny Trejo cameo, but I could be wrong. Works much better the way it turned out IMHO. ;)
I'll start a thread for just the puppet talk here.
By the way, I think Pepe or some rat seems to be in a small Tux next to Gonzo in the cell. It doesn't appear to be Camilla.
This is a designated space to discuss the latest Muppet puppet redesigns for "The Muppets" movie. What are your thoughts? Keep in mind that we're discussing the architecture of the puppet building only and this is not a criticism of Disney, the Muppets or the content of the film.
So far...
Disney's marketing machine is geared up and include products for a crucial target age group - kids! No longer are they relegated to only nostalgic niche merchandise. This is very important! This tells me they're covering all their bases and the really cool thing - - they are getting kids...
The perfect kind of viral campaign that we know works well with the Muppets. Disney was smart to cease the Muppets.com clips for a while until unveiling this movie effort. They really know what they're doing.
This is funny stuff! I hope they don't give too much away, but this looks...
I agree with this.
I've absolutely never given or encouraged others to give blind support, however I start from a place of optimism. I just can't understand a lover of the Muppets starting with pessimism or a chronic skepticism as their default position. IE - it's gonna suck unless I see...
Stewie reminds Brian about the importance of going to the doctor by saying, “Jim Henson had a 'wait-and-see' attitude, and look what happened to him. Now we’ve got wrong-sounding Muppets!” That's probably the Family Guy quote people are talking about.
I agree. Most people out there know nothing about the Muppets, but speak about them with such authority. They think Brian Henson still has something to do with them. Heck, many people think he performs Kermit. Nobody realizes that Jim has been gone for 21 years! I'm not a fan of *everything* the...
I think Pepe's been around so much because Bill really likes performing him. Pepe's dynamics hadn't truly been explored, but now they appear to have been over-exploited. He's popular and fun and his saltiness instantly separates the Muppets from the Sesame crowd. He was the bridge between...
It would be nice to fill in a few Palisades figure gaps of Sal, Mahna Mahna, Bobo, Seymour & Pepe pack, Vets Hospital and a decent representation of Miss Piggy, but we've been there and done that and they wouldn't likely start with these obscure fellas. The reality is that Palisades-size and...
Exactly. I'd like to say WWII was fought out of some supreme sense of humanity, but the world was scared as heck of the tentacles of Nazi Germany reaching their shores. If we're going to impose civil human rights through aggressive war then why don't we add China and Africa to the list of...
This interesting and problematic article is a reprint from the NY Times last month. Any press is good at this point, but we go over the misrepresented box office receipts over here on the Mindset. The figures are not nearly as dire as the NY Times reporter made them out to be. :)
I have to agree with this. The Middle East hornets nest is thousands of years old. It's literally Biblical! I don't see a viable solution or any real degree of winning over there. Enough citizens must want change and a lot of them do, but even so it's not our brand of American change. The...
