Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Doc is the only real example of a black hat villain in the Jim Henson universe that i could think of. That was the point. In contrast to the rest he is just that, but in the world of the movie he's not as menacing as most movie villains. *That* is my main point. ;)
I like some of the "bits" in MFS, but I don't merely think the film is bad. I actually think it's terrible. The only really good thing it served was to turn some of the kids who saw it (usually on home video) into fans. However, most people just didn't respond to the film. The Muppets weren't...
I guess this is about how mine stack up now.
TMM "The Muppet Movie" A+
GMC "The Great Muppet Caper" A
TMF "The Muppets" film B
MTI "Muppet Treasure Island" C+
MTM "The Muppets Take Manhattan" C
MCC "The Muppet Christmas Carol" C
MFS "Muppets From Space" F
MTM felt a little forced and gimmicky...
Many of Jim Henson's movie and television themes diffused the typical black hat antagonist. Doc Hopper is the only true one I can really think of that fits the standard mold. Even Jereth in Labyrinth wasn't really that bad of a guy. He just represents a selfish path, but not a vicious or cruel...
I keep hearing some fans applauding the new Gonzo design, but it's just not right. A few of my non-fan friends have even commented how his nose texture resembles the Master Replicas Gonzo's sock covering, but thicker and in blue. I mean, he's okay, but he's not in any way back to any original...
Animal's fur has always been comprised of red, pink and orange ostrich feathers of various hues. Most of the difference we see has to do with film stock and lighting.
I feel that the Carrey and Zemekis Grinch is a slap in the face to Suess and Jones. It misses the point of the source material. Truly terrible in this frogboy's opinion.
Horton is alright. The art direction is beautiful. I enjoy different pieces of the picture rather than the whole of the...
Up until this new movie, general consumer interest for Muppet merchandised characters has been as follows:
Kermit
Animal
Beaker (3rd because whenever he's available, he sells out)
Gonzo
Fozzie
Piggy
(of course, this is when they are all placed side-by-side. Piggy is an industry unto herself, but...
You're right. No factory in existence has been able to adequately provide both price and quality as relates to Disney's and EFX's high standards. Maybe in the future, but probably not from EFX and not for a very long time.
Disney and EFX require a particular level of quality that isn't achievable at an acceptable price point. Any one of these posers would cost $550 - $1000 and there just isn't enough retail or consumer interest for the gamble. Not even as a limited edition piece. However, if these were made as...
The link i sent should work: http://thrdl.es/p/3120 but just in case, just go to www.threadless.com and type Muppetational Mosaic into the search field. It should pop right up.
Disney has taken full ownership of the Muppets in their stock of entertainment properties and they're probably formulating a wider next move. They are no longer a boutique brand that needs the kind of cheerleading they did before the movie. They are everywhere now. "The Muppets" is faring very...
I also think that Disney's ownership has affected the look of the Muppets. They're cleaner and more brightly colored. It has also been said that there usually was only one of each Muppet build in Jim's day. That appears to have changed. I believe Disney decided that as long as they're investing...
