Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
My kid prefers the "old" Sesame Street characters, too - as a matter of fact, this season when Ernie and Elmo did "Share" he said "Elmo doesn't sing that! Cookie Monster is supposed to sing that!"
Even though the average age of kids watching has decreased, their TV sophistication is the same...
It didn't get yanked - but there was discussion on whether or not it would be picked up for another season; I don't know the reason, but they do have an unofficial web site
http://www.lyonpuppets.com/crank1.html
and an official one w/message board...
In another thread, a member posted that both Between the Lions and Bear In The Big Blue House have been cancelled. I know other shows using puppets have been troubled (Crank Yankers almost didn't get another season)
Puppetry was really gaining a foothold in the public eye; I've been glad...
Does anybody own a copy of 123, Count With Me? I think in the opening of the video, when Humphrey and Ingrid ask Ernie to take over the front desk, he says something about being six.
Hope I didn't give the impression that I don't support people's right to make their own choices. I don't...
Well, I've never seen him in the bath with Bert, but if they're going to use that as an argument, think about "Do De Rubber Duck;" he's in there with a cow, 2 monsters, 3 or 4 men...
Silly argument in general, no?:D
I think people get upset about this not because of the sexual preferences, but because discussions about sexuality are wildly inappropriate for preschoolers, just like suggesting their parents will eventually die. I myself would have a problem if Sesame Street had open discussions of these...
OK, folks to finally put this to rest
Hey, questions are legitimate. Here are some articles I found in a search engine:
This one talks about how these ideas got started, and SS's response: http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/gaymupp.htm
This is another interesting article that mentions how...
Anybody else notice the AMs sort of wandering around during the Cookie Hood episode? There was a brunette female looking confused and heading towards Hooper's Store, and a brunette little boy. Interesting that they were just out there, wandering around.
New interns?
Hey, just teasing...
I think Ol' Boober was not reacting to the content of the question, but the number of times it's come up - look through past posts.
Right about there not being any stupid questions, tho...
AGAIN?
ERNIE AND BERT ARE BARELY SCHOOL-AGE! CHECK THE FAQ!
That being said, it's interesting to note that on today's episode Bert mentions his brother Bart, whom I've never heard of before...and he has only one candle on his birthday cake. Does blow my theory that they're brothers all to...
Though I absolutely loathe Davey and Joey monkey (made me give up on SS during their tenor - late 80s and early 90s ?) they appear on the 25th anniversary video. Don't have the ability to download a picture, but there they are.
Amen to that!
You aren't the only one! My two-and-change year old son said "time for NEW Sesame Street?" every hour since Friday! Repetition is a good thing at that age - but all things in moderation!
ARE YOU LISTENING, PBS?
Don't you mean "a woman, oddly enough playing a man, playing a female bovine?" Maybe it's like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where women in front of the screen played Dr. Frankenfurter!
Wasn't "Hola" done with Gloria Estefan, too?
