Disney is on the up and up as of late. If this comes to a head you can trust that they will deliver. Disney is looking to keep this thing going - NOT - tear it apart!
Segal being such an avid Muppet fan would not want to diminish the original qualities of the muppets (as he's stated) so I would not worry... Also, Disney has a great deal of input into this - I mean ultimately they are not only making the movie but, they hold the muppets in their portfolio and...
and I am kind of uppity - I mean i've lived in NYC and Hollywood all my life. We're kind of jaded from seeing a lot but, I know how to knee slap and play a banjo like Henson - I can be just as warm and down to earth as you've ever seen.:boo:
Well put and I gotcha. I like to think that he had a yin and yang type philosophy and that concept to me means there would not be light without darkness and vice versa:
The concept of yin and yang (or earth and heaven) describes two opposing and, at the same time, complementary (completing)...
I did not intend to direct my "purists" comment on anyone in particular especially not Beau who made very logical points throughout.
It was a generalized statement brought on in part by the newer muppet movies lack of dimension and yes, I must admit that i've spoken to a lot of folks who don't...
I definitely object! Jim Henson wouldn't have fought so hard to have an adult show on at a primetime hour if he had wanted some cheesy disney-esque safe characters. I mean we all know this - Henson wanted adult themes and dark themes and variety.
This is what made me fall in love with the...
It just seems like this longwinded discussion about rehab is a little redundant. If you refer to my original post I even say that it would be better that she were simply on the skidz in Hollywood with her career than rehab.
Piggy's tough as nails but every star goes through unpopular periods -...
Well Beau, you've just got it all worked out there then... It's true about staying true to the character but, how boring would the world of entertainment be if all characters just fit nicely in a specific box and did the same old things over and over and over again?
Beau - I want you to get up...
Good lord what a great Muppet day in the blog worlds. Perez Hilton just posted this:
http://perezhilton.com/2008-04-04-caring-is-sharing
Everyone is going muppet crazy - yayayaya!
Oh god - Beau you are failing to realize that it was a joke... Simple as that. Something unexpected. That's the thing with screenwriting if you notice when watching a "good" film - the writers are trying to put a spin on what is obvious so you will be surprised.
Thank you frogboy - "dysfunctional" - I couldn't have said it better.
Check it out - TMZ just launched Hollywood Muppets:

I'm liking you more and more beaker. There seems to be this purist camp of muppet fans who think that everything was entirely sweetness and light with the muppets. What i've found and find most appealing about Jim Henson's work is that there is an amazing balance he struck with everything...
Yay - beaker - you get what i'm saying... Make it funneee... It can be current and funny. I would laugh if she were washed up. But, we love a comeback - don't we?
What if Miss Piggy has "gone to God"? She's running a Christian ministry in bumsquat Oklahoma... Like Tammy Faye she's shopping at Big Lots for her makeup...
hahah - I love to keep you guys going - just kidding!
PS - sure it's in their blood to leave each other... The Electric Mayhem was...
Points well taken.
I love the Gonzo/Bollywood idea. Hilarious.
Ooh - what about Amy Sedaris as a guest star..? She has such a great childlike freaky humor and would work well with them i think.
And I don't agree with this view that Miss Piggy is all sweetness... She's not badhearted but, as I remember she always had a biatchi comic quality during Henson's reign. She wasn't really mean until someone, anyone (even the frog) stood in her way. Then it was haaaayaaah!
Mrs. Pepper you've obviously forgotten about the scene in The Muppet Movie when she's on a date with Kermit and the phone rings, it's her agent and she barely says goodbye. Sure, she comes back to Kermit the love of her life and Yes, she loves Kermit but her ambitions for fame are pretty darn...
Look a lot has happened since the muppets last... Flip it around to that she's a legitimate huge star and almost impossible to get... They are just scenarios and I think you are wrong - they could do fun stuff with the scenarios of what happened to them along the way. How many blogs have I...
Exactly, bon bon therapy, shopping rehab, frog lovers anonymous... You name it.
But, I see her more as being on skid row in Hollywood with a failing career and reuiniting with her old pals and trying to keep up the facade that she's still famous. (Sunset Blvd.) The final show resurrects her...
