    The Writer's Strike

Can I just point out that there is no need for new negotiations to take place with music rights on "The Muppet Show", let anyone *any* TV show. Music rights for broadcast will have been negotiated back when the programme was made, and don't need to be renegotiated. It's only for commercial...

    Oh Lonesome Me

That's what I thought. The person who did that entry on Muppet Wiki must have been watching a different edit to the one we're used to. ;)

    Oh Lonesome Me

Refresh my memory, but Loretta Lynn sang this song with dogs didn't she? Only Muppet Wiki's entry on her episode of TMS says that she sang it with pigs.

    The Writer's Strike

Even though I'm in New Zealand, I hope the strike gets resolved very quickly. Hopefully this won't drag on like the ITV blackout of 1979.

    Muppet censorship

I don't recall anything about the films being censored. From memory, the grasshopper line is in the soundtrack but unless it's in the original UK edit of the film, I don't particularly remember it being in the "bona fide" version. Can you give some other examples of censored lines?

    ITC logo/DVD trivia

Zoot doesn't wear his hat in the end credits of the first two seasons. He is wearing his hat in the end credits of the last three seasons. Associated TeleVision (ATV) was the independent channel that aired The Muppet Show in the United Kingdom. Incorporated Television Company (ITC) is...

    ITC logo/DVD trivia

Okay, first of all - these are not new shots that have been recorded especially for the DVDs; these are the shots that were used for the Hit! endings, sans bubble. There were two versions recorded - for the first two seasons, Zoot is not wearing his hat and for the other three seasons, he is...

    ITC logo/DVD trivia

In order: 1. Harry Belafonte episode (it's one of the African-masked characters) 2. Kaye Ballard episode (Nigel bows to the audience, while Rowlf has his hands in his mouth and looks nervous) 3. Loretta Lynn episode (the final note sounds slightly off-key) 4. Roger Miller episode (the...

    ITC logo/DVD trivia

Yes, but they're a part of the end credits so it's a bit harder to remove them than it is for TMS. The various copyright notices used for TMS have always been on a seperate shot of Zoot blowing his sax so it's always been easy to change them.

    ITC logo/DVD trivia

There are still tapes that have the original logos, though, and if Disney are using the "original" UK tapes (as has been claimed) then it's possible they may have made the decision to ditch the old copyright notices. In saying that, I do realize they are using the old HIT! endings so maybe...

    ITC logo/DVD trivia

With regards to the logo, this is all due to the change in ownership. There were in fact two logos - a rectangular ATV logo (used on the UK tapes) and the diamond ITC logo (used on the US tapes). The problem is that Granada International, who own the ITC archive, no longer own the copyright to...

John Denver & The Muppets: A Christmas Together DVD

Eric and Davina - while I am not a Mod, I refer you both to the forum rules regarding pirated material. In fact, Eric you posted about this last year and I told you last year that you shouldn't do it.

    Pigs In Space

Some Pigs in Space sketches will be on the Time Life "Best of the Muppet Show" DVDs, but unfortunately off-hand I couldn't tell you which are on which disc.

Hmmm...that's the version I've got as well. What label was the UK version released on?

Most likely the UK version, as that was the one that came out in New Zealand.

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Season 2

It's been a while since I last saw the Rich Little episode but I wonder if Little was trying to do Fozzie's voice from the previous year, as they would be all he would have had to go on.

what if The Muppet Movie was basically a 90-minute Muppet Show?

The Brady Bunch, Dad's Army and Are You Being Served? films are three very good examples.

what if The Muppet Movie was basically a 90-minute Muppet Show?

I think it would have been a dreadful idea and would never have worked. There had been quite a few UK TV shows that had been made in to films pre-1979 and the bulk of them were just old scripts being re-hashed for the big screen. Even today you see film versions of TV shows re-hashing old...
