    Muppet Peter Pan

D'oh! I'm so sorry about that, James. Slip of the keyboard! Got caught up in all the Daves involved ;)

    Muppet Peter Pan

Exactly, the blessing is that the 'no reference' approach is partly what allows the very wide range of styles on the comics. Everything Disney produces of their own is simultaneously prepped for merchandising and licensing from the second it's created. That's how Disney rolls. They haven't owned...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Comic Book

Thank you, and honestly, I didn't mention it to trigger a mountain of reassuring praise or anything like that. Can't please everybody etc. Just stung a little considering I DO like his drawings very much and I work my butt off on those comics to do the best I can in the time I have.

    Muppet Peter Pan

Well, it didn't surprise me all that much. Not everything Disney owns comes with a massive pre-prepared-and-approved model pack. How many Muppet comics have existed which are less than 20 years old? Not too many. There really IS no 'standardised' way of drawing the Muppets for comics. It's...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Comic Book

Welp, according to Tough Pigs, Pete Savieri thinks my art is 'wishy washy'. I dare say he doesn't have QUITE the deadline I do when he does his perfect pencil renderings.

    Muppet Peter Pan

That was what I figured, otherwise you'd have done one long ago! Trying to fit a whole Muppet story in among Mouse Guard commitments would be tough, even if someone else did the colouring. My workload is exclusively Boom! comics and it is seriously a full-time job. If it's not drawing...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Comic Book

Don't count on it. As I said, we're being secretive on this one. It won't be revealed until Issue 1 hits stands. At least it had BETTER not (gives Boom!'s marketing dept the stink-eye...)

I'll field that one, as I'll be drawing it. Not telling ;p

    Muppet Peter Pan

Actually no, I have to seek out my own reference material. All I got from Disney were some spot illustrations I use for the colour palettes. The problem is finding good shots of the actual puppet in action. Most Pepe photos online are posed publicity photos, which use different puppets to the...

    Muppet Peter Pan

Heh. Yeah, I readily admit I haven't seen an awful lot of Pepe in action, so he was by far the most unfamiliar to me of all the characters I had to draw. Buh? News to me. I've done a set of covers, but I just did some cross-checking with my editor and no, I am definitely not the artist for King...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Comic Book

Piggy IS very hard to draw and give her the emotional range that she has. Indeed, when you're drawing ANY of the Muppets, there's a very fine line between just copying them from life and giving them JUST a touch of tooniness to give them some acting ability on paper. If you copy them too closely...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Comic Book

King Arthur IS delayed, but it's nothing to do with Pan. But yeah, last I heard, King Arthur 1 will be out end of Jan.

Why Did Boom! Change Their Paper?

I know I mentioned the paper change, but ****** if I can remember the reason, either! Probably the simple reason of cost-cutting. I think there's a bit of aesthetic reasoning too, with newsprint stock being more 'old school'. It bugs me too, for the very reason stated - the colours look muddier...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Comic Book

I wouldn't call Disney 'uppity' for nixing Ernie and Bert cameos - they don't own Sesame Street characters and I'm sure Disney and CTW are trying to make it VERY clear that the two are separate entities. But the Bender and MST3k cameos... yeah, she shouldn't do that. I think she got away with it...

    Muppet Peter Pan

Hey folks. I've got official okay from my editor to give you all a heads-up. Pan #4 is going to be delayed by at least a few weeks and won't be released until Jan '10. The reason is simple and due to me - I just moved house and anyone who has moved house knows what a time-sucking hassle it is...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Comic Book

Haha, thanks. This was a VERY short notice cover, so I decided to see how they'd look with very minimal linework and simple colours. Luckily, Boom! liked it and I get to keep my (almost) unbroken Muppet Show variant cover streak ;) The only one I missed getting was Issue 3 (Gonzo's story) - Dave...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street 40 Years DVD Box Set

Absolutely! Both very familiar, near and dear to my heart. King of Eight is already on the Old School set. With the number ones, it's fun playing 'Spot the Brian'. ;p The Disc one also includes the Phillip Glass-scored 'geometry' animation, but not the whole thing, just the first part. Shame...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street 40 Years DVD Box Set

I got the gigantic coffee-table book and dvd set. I haven't watched Disc 2 yet because quite frankly, I'm only interested in the pre-'90 stuff anyway ;) It still boggles my mind how meticulously the curriculum is constructed which underpins each show or skit. While I thought there were a LOT...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Comic Book

Peg-Leg 4 is listed as on shelves now, so time for the variant! Marking the end of this story and segueing into the On The Road arc, I decided to take a gentler, storybook approach.

    Muppet King Arthur

Heh. Yes, that would be your typical 'placeholder'. Using art by the artist who is no longer working on the project. Okaaaaay... I am DYING to show you all my covers, but they're staying under wraps.
