    Gluing Technique Help!

lol  Not that I always throw caution to the wind, but the back of my contact cement tub only cautions a person to use in a well ventilated area. I wonder maybe if the Weldwood stuff isn't as strong as Barge, and therefor maybe not quite as dangerous..... although, still VERY potent...

    Gluing Technique Help!

Hmmm, I never knew about the skin contact thing. But I just noticed that it says that on the can too. :o Wonder what kind of gloves would be acceptable without hindering the ability to work. Wouldn't think rubber gloves would be suffient huh? I do get a bit on my hands about 95% of the...

    Gluing Technique Help!

Nope no respirator, but we're talking a garage door here, not a regular wall door and the fan is behind me blowing toward the door. I never smell the stuff. I've got three perfectly healthy children, so it's never been an issue.

    Gluing Technique Help!

Yep, I use the Welwood in gel formula because it's easier to control and avoid drips/spills. I've never had issues with it drying up, but I also run through about a can every 2-3 weeks too, so it may not ever get the opportunity to settle long enough to dry. Not sure how long of a "shelf" life...

    Dreadlocks

I built one for a customer recently that required the same styled hair. I was able to find a wig easily at a local shop that rents costumes and such year round. Take a look in your yellow pages and give a few a call to see if they carry wigs for sale in addition to costume rentals.... most...

Hey, I just noticed that your located in Connecticut, How cool is that?! I'm from Connecticut too! I was born at St. Mary's hospital in Waterbury. What is meaningful about your puppet?

Well, there IS a puppet in this house that has significant meaning but more to my daughter than myself.... My first attempt at puppet building was with felt and polyfill, which I made decent money with by selling them to friends, churches, and local craft shows. See my avatar, thats one of the...

Your BIGGEST Mistake in Building Puppets

A few weeks ago I was preoccupied in conversation while hot gluing the tongue on a puppet and dropped the tongue on my leg. Since my puppet tongues are basically upside down hearts, my blister is a heart.... although I wasn't feeling much love when it burned me. Oh, and I once had a...

    Hair...how much is a hank?

It is my understanding that a hank of hair is a bunch of hair strands usually held together with string or a rubber band. They are LOOSE strands of hair that are used to braid into human hair as extensions. Not sure of the standard amount offered in a hank but I beleive it is weighed in ounces...

    Horns horns horns

Hmmm, how about a home made foam tube with a wire insert, sprial it and then put a handmade cone on one end for the "point"? You can apply color with floral spray paint. Thats what I'd experiment with anyway.
