I'll reply!
I agree with you completely. I'm an old school Muppet girl. One possible exception is Muppet Treasure Island which my sister and I agree was "new school done in old school style"
And I do like Pepe - "I'm not a shrimp! I'm a King Prawn!"
Clifford is old school -...
I think we all do - it was a wonderful part of our childhood. However, one thing we have to remember is that we are looking back at a lot of those old shows through the veil of nostalgia and sentimentality. A LOT of the old 80's cartoons were corn-city.
My friends and I went had a "Saturday...
Little Shop Time Line:
1960's B&W Little Shop Of Horrors --> Off Broadway Musical --> 1986 Colour movie (based on musical) --> 2003 Broadway production
(Plus, there was a 80's Saturday morning cartoon as well. Never saw it, but I know it existed. Does anyone remember it?)
I love Little...
Yes! Oh I love that song! My favorite JHH skit of all time. Hmmm I didn't realize until now that the 25th Anniversary CD has no JHH stuff. :(
Even when I'm weary and I just can't carry on,
And the world is like an endless debt for me to pay.....
I have a somewhat scratchy cassette...
Same thing happened when I tried to show my co-worker's niece Muppet Babies. It took me three days to coax her into it (instead of watching Road To El Dorado over and over as she had been doing) but once I actually got it into the machine...... Bam! She was glued to the screen.
If I had a...
That I am, na no da! I like being weird
(To quote baby Gonzo - "Weeeeiiiirrrrddddooo! It's music to my ears!" ;) )
Although then one friend or another usually comes along and says that there is no such thing as 'normal' and therefore no such thing as being 'weird'. And then I tell them...
Wow - cool article. I can sympathize. ;)
We did Little Shop in my last year of highschool. What a blast! Since I can't sing worth beans (and even if I could) I wanted to be Twoey's puppeteer. Our head drama teacher knew I had some puppetry experience so she awarded me the role (guess no one...
Well if he did then I'm glad - I happen to like our accent eh.
Now the best "Canadian" Fraggle moment I remember was about a year ago I caught an old re-run of FR on CBC. Uncle Travelling Matt goes to an amusement park - and it's Canada's Wonderland! (a park I have been to many, many times in...
It's not the fault of Muppet Babies that everyone jumped on the "Baby Bandwagon" afterwards. That's the way TV works (just look at the current trend of crime shows or reality TV).
That being said I can see a little where you are coming from. I remember being so happy that there was going to...
I know it's probably pointless to say this but I will try anyways - it is not uncommon for a popular universe to have multiple versions. There are at least a half dozen different versions of Ninja Turtles, and a half dozen different versions of Spider-Man, just to name two. All these versions...
Hurray for Pooh! Silly Ol'Bear - I love you so!
And Hurray for Spidey too! (I know he was only 5th but you're talking to an obsessed fan-girl here. )
That song BTW is hilarious!
I think I almost cried the first time I heard that. It makes me think of my own Teddy (not an official 'Pooh"...
Has anyone else had this happen to them? You make a Muppet reference and people misunderstand you?
For instance I've said a couple of times (to only very close friends BTW who know of my Muppet obsession - in fact one was a Muppet fan himself)
"Mmmmmmm the frog is smaaaaarrrrttt!"...
I think the Muppet Babies would go over quite well today - if it was marketed properly. I think part of the problem (not just with the Muppet Babies but with all sorts of Muppet stuff) is that when the stuff does come out it really comes out under the radar. You either find the stuff by accident...
I am sentimental (almost to a fault at times). Therefore it took me a long, long, long time to get used to Steve doing Kermit's voice. In the early years I just found him too squeaky and a lot of his 'guest' appearences on talk shows and stuff seemed forced. But he's getting better - there's...
Hmmm I have to admit, most of the time when I watched Sesame Street, I was watching the "American" version on PBS.
There was almost no difference between the two except for the fact that the Canadian one had three "Canadian" Muppets that would pop up in non-Street sections. A female bush...
This has been bothering me for awhile now - and I figured if anyone knew the answer (besides the folks at JH) it would be you guys.
Does anyone know why Muppet Family Christmas was edited when it was released on VHS (and DVD I think) a few years ago? Suffice it to say MFC is a very important...
