I'll keep my thoughts brief but I will say that it certainly was a well-deserved tribute to a great, talented man. :sing::batty::smirk: Every single aspect of the day was moving, funny and charming.
As I discussed with Squigiman there, this event was taped, I sat next to the guy who was taping...
I don't know if I really want to re-buy the entire series of Fraggle Rock again, but if they release anything of interest that hasn't been covered by any of Henson's past distribution partners, I'll be all over it!
I just was clicking around Muppet Wiki and found that Jim was working on something somewhat similar to this in the 80s...

Of course, Mischievous Miles would likely be nowhere near as grating as the Oogieloves.
"It's only creepy when Big Bird closes his eyes..." were your exact words if I recall correctly.
That's another one I have a huge problem with. I think I just pick on "You Needed Me" more because it comes earlier in the special. But Ethel is much worse.
Interestingly enough, the Leslie...
To be fair, "You Needed Me" is the most tolerable song in the special since it doesn't involve Leslie Uggams' screech-singing and is probably fine on it's own without Big Bird hitting first base.
Oscar singing Yakkety Yak though is bloody epic. Just sayin.
... Because in what other Christmas specials do things come to a screeching halt for obscure celebrities to sing songs that have nothing to do with Christmas? :p
OK, that I can understand. That is a problem I have with the movie, that aside from Gonzo and Rizzo, none of the main Muppets get very much to do. Every other Muppet character is just a resurrected Fraggle Rock puppet and yeah, that does take away a lot from it but for me it gets by more as a...
You can't really compare the roles of the humans in The Muppets and the roles of the humans in The Muppet Christmas Carol. The latter is Scrooge's movie more or less. The Muppets does have lots of Gary and Mary but they're basically abandoned aside from a scene every 10-15 minutes by the time...
I agree. Be glad the movie's even getting a Blu-ray release at all, everybody. Yeah, it sucks that Disney used a theatrical version when a widescreen version with "When Love Is Gone" is out there but honestly, even though I grew up knowing "When Love Is Gone" in the film, when I got the first US...
To anyone interested, Amazon seems to be offering an excluse "Collector's Edition" with the Blu-ray, DVD and a digital copy (confirming the retail edition isn't a combo pack). At least they were offering it for pre-order a few hours today then it disappeared. So if it goes back up for pre-order...
I watched enough of To Boldly Flee to say that it was "good, not great". It is excruciatingly long but I appreciated the advancements to the NC's character (mostly his making peace with the AVGN and coming to terms with himself to merge with a "plot hole"... it makes sense when you watch it) so...
It has potential if they do it the right way... I'm just hoping that there is more situation/conflict than there are parodies. Granted TGWTG isn't the best at long-term character arcs but I would assume since these are meant to be more fleshed-out characters than a bunch of internet critics...
I have had DVD-R's of the entire series of Muppets Tonight for many years now. It was the entire series on three discs and it seems like it was a set made by someone that had been going around. About a year ago, the final disc of that set (consisting of the last 8 episodes) went missing and I...
Oogieloves really wouldn't have worked any time of the year. Ken probably wanted to get the movie in the summer season but not have to deal with Dark Knight Rises (completely different film but I think you get my drift). But even that doesn't always work, Elmo in Grouchland had a decent release...
