I wouldn't worry too much about that, it seems like most people liked it. I honestly thought The Lorax was the worst Seuss film I've seen (I obviously haven't seen The Cat in the Hat). I could have done without the constant pop culture references and horrible songs, though the last one was okay...
Best idea ever! :p
I'll say this about the Carrey movie: I was about 8 or 9 when it came out, I saw it on the big screen like everyone did and I enjoyed it but then kind of forgot about it. I don't even watch it when it's on TV every year. Thanks to SG here, I've seen it a handful of times...
Hey! In my defense, I have a old public domain VHS copy of It's a Wonderful Life I bought at a church sale a few years back and a VHS copy of The Grinch that's on the cusp of wearing out. Then again, my VCR has been disconnected for two years, so I guess those arguments are invalid. XD
Why thank you, good sir. There's the chance I might do another Christmas special review this year but given I haven't done any reviews in a long time I can't make any promises. I have a movie picked already if I do a review this year and trust me, it'll be hard to top that one but I'll try...
Hey, there's still tons of other Christmas specials I love that I need DVDs of (It's a Wonderful Life, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Muppet Family Christmas as well as tons of others) all of which will be purchased long before this special ever is by me. :cluck: It's the thought that counts...
Haha, well as SG knows, as kind of a knee-jerk response to this special's DVD release,I finally bought the Christmas Eve on Sesame Street DVD a few weeks ago. Best decision one could make celebrate this special coming out on DVD. :D
I will admit that the first time I saw Muppets' Wizard of Oz, which was at one of the advance screenings at the Tribeca Film Festival the year it came out, I really liked it. As did everyone else in the audience. During the scene where Gonzo pointed out his nipples, the audience was applauding...
I'll followup on that and add a tiny note to my list that, if I included the Sesame movies and Kermit's Swamp Years: Follow That Bird would be between Great Muppet Caper and Muppets Take Manhattan, Elmo in Grouchland would be between Muppet Treasure Island and It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas...
Yeahhh, after listening to those MP3 samples, I'm definitely not buying the DVD of this special, I forgot how appallingly bad this special is until I listened to them. And I own The Muppets' Wizard of Oz DVD for Pete's sake! I'd much rather put my money toward a DVD of a better Sesame special.
If I had to just rank them:
The Muppet Movie
The Muppet Christmas Carol
The Muppets
The Great Muppet Caper
The Muppets Take Manhattan
Muppet Treasure Island
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie
Muppets from Space
The Muppets' Wizard of Oz
The soundtrack is up with samples on Amazon...

Wouldn't you know it? They just lifted the audio right from the special and put it on a CD and the bonus tracks are very obnoxious. Why am I...
Alright, I've seen enough. Time for me to butt in.
There's no right or wrong answer here. As established on this forum for many years now, I do feel Sesame is the definitive show for pre-school-aged children out there. If I had kids, it would likely be the first show I would expose them to...
That's a very good question. I want to say, yes, they can/could distribute anything Henson owned their own distribution rights to. I know Sony has the distribution rights to Dark Crystal but other than that Lionsgate can release anything else that still has a Henson copyright on it. Then again...
I could say it might be that HIT just doesn't think it's viable to put out older Barney titles. But then again, Lionsgate put out a slew of obscure Henson titles no one would really think of releasing a few years back and pretty much all of Sesame's back-catalog that's been commercially-released...
I'm thinking of it this way: two months of being at school everyday here versus seven months of it... well, I think we know what everyone would prefer. :p I'm a patient man, as shocking as that is to find out, but when it comes to this, it's a "I just wanna get out of Dodge" situation.
