What TMS episode is this from?

Okay, stupid question here. In the Company of Players documentary on the TMS season 3 DVD set there is a clip of Jim and Frank rehearsing a scene: Frank (as Fozzie): He's not as funny as I am, right? Jim (as Kermit): Well, sometimes he's funnier. Frank: He's FUNNIER? Was this from an...

What sketches scared you as a kid?

I am not sure why, but I used to have an aversion to the Guy Smiley sketches as a youngster. It is one of the mysteries of my childhood I never will solve...

Original TMS Zoot Ending Found on YouTube!

One other note--I was watching the Julie Andrews episode (on a TBOTMS disc). At the end of the episode, Zoot's sax blast is replaced by a moo from Julie's cow. This makes me wonder if this episode also had an episode-specific closing shot that was lost when the ITC logo was deleted.

Muppet Show Season 4 coming in 2013

To be honest, sometimes I will only buy DVDs just for the bonus features. It's mostly the bonus features I am looking forward to for season 4. But since Buena Vista is taking its time on this release, I just have to wait patiently.

Muppets Based on Contemporary Celebrities/Pop Culture

Of course, Floyd's outfit was inspired by the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album, hence his full name Sgt. Floyd Pepper.

Muppets Based on Contemporary Celebrities/Pop Culture

Some Muppet characters were influenced by popular culture around the time that they were designed. Many were inspired by celebrities. Dr. Teeth, for example, was based on New Orleans singer Dr. John. Any other examples?

Irony in The Muppets Valentine Show

Condsidering that Jim and his associates were in New York during the early years of Sesame Street, I would not be surprised that these early specials were shot in NYC as well.

Oh Where, Oh Where has my Muppets gone?

I too have noticed that after Jim's death, some of his characters were either... A) Retired, B) Shoved into the background, or C) Not given enxtensive dialogue? It seems the only Jim-performed characters still active and not "demoted" (as I call it) are Kermit, Waldorf, Ernie, and the Chef...

    Whatever happened to Link Hogthrob?

I think the real reason has to do with the fact that he was originally created for Pigs in Space. When TMS ended, they had not much use for Link afterwards except as a background character.

When will TMS S4 arrive, and...

Probably they're having some rights issues or something. If you can't wait, just watch the old Best of the Muppet Show DVD's until then.

Will Frank Oz be in Monsters Inc. 2?

It turns out that veteran Muppet Performer Frank Oz was the voice of Randall's assistant Fungus in Disney/Pixar's Monsters, Inc. However, I was thinking that, with Monsters, Inc 2 in the works, would Frank reprise his role as Fungus? Given Frank's retirement from the Muppets after Monsters...

    Top Annoying Misnaming People Do

A lot of people I meet seem to claim that JIM created Sesame Street--WRONG! Though Jim and his associates did indeed design, build and perform the many puppet characters that populated Sesame Street, the show was actually CREATED by Children's Television Workshop (CTW, now Sesame Workshop)...

    Muppet Impressions

I can imitate virtually ALL the Jim-performed characters (though I need some work differentiating Rowlf from Dr. Teeth). And about two weeks ago, I did a spot-on impression of Miss Piggy! I am trying to master the Richard Hunt-performed Muppets at this time.

Why is it that TMM or GMC never played on TV in the 2000's

Last time I checked, Oddysey aired GMC in Spring 2001, and Hallmark Channel aired TMM sometime in mid-2002.

Original TMS Zoot Ending Found on YouTube!

I agree with you Dr Tooth. But unless one has an EXTREMELY keen photographic memory, or was lucky enough to tape the show before the old logo was replaced, one can only IMAGINE what the original endings to those episodes looked like. Take Kaye Ballard (season 1) for example--here are my...

Getting the Jokes (Ten years later)

I am not sure if this counts but here goes... For a while, the "Pigs in Space" sketch from the Harry Belafonte episode, the one with the "Dissolveatron" had puzzled me. It was not so much the sketch itself that puzzled me as much as it was the behind-the-scenes technicalities. Normally, Link...

The "Next Muppet on Family Guy" thread

I had a hard time understanding the "Wrong Sounding Muppets" gag from The Tan Aquatic with Steve Zissou. While Jim did indeed have a "wait and see" attitude when it came to the condition that cost him his life, and both Kermit and Swedish Chef were Jim-performed characters, the ending really...
