    Inflating/Deflating Puppet (any ideas?)

Here's a theoretical solution, but admittedly there is still a lot to work out... The characters themselves will basically have to balloons. As far as finding a material that would suit the finish of the character and be able to stretch like a balloon...that's another story. But for all intents...

    Inflating/Deflating Puppet (any ideas?)

Just to be clear...you need the characters to grow and shrink. That's a little different than inflating and deflating, right? You don't want the character to look like a deflated balloon...all empty and loose...after it shrinks. You want it to get smaller in size with no distortion. Correct?

    Help Making SST Martians

Hey BryanS, You may or may not have run accross this video snippet - http://puppeteersunite.com/?p=782 - second one down...shows the fellas in action. Your toughest job in building a replica will be the fabric. Otherwise, the construction is pretty straightforward.

    Part Puppet... Oscar/Bruno Costume

Hey Keith! Good to "see" ya. Looks great! Very nice likeness. It takes quite a lot to tackle a set-up like Bruno and Oscar. Looking forward to more...(ie. the "big puppet project") :)

    Custom Puppet - Spike Lee

Thanks again, guys (that includes you to staceyrebecca...yar). CrazyHarryFan, I haven't done any workshops. There always seems to be too many obstacles...place to have it...lack of local interest...etc. I think it would be a fun time though!

    Custom Puppet - Spike Lee

That one you'll have to figure out on your own. :) But I can tell you that it's really not too difficult to find.

    Custom Puppet - Spike Lee

The skull and the eyelids are vacuum-formed styrene. First, the inside of the foam head was cast in plastic. Then that cast was used as a positive mold for the vacuum forming. This made it possible to create a plastic skull that fit perfectly inside the foam puppet head. Here are some pics...

    Custom Puppet - Spike Lee

Thanks guys! I posted some "behind the scenes" pics over on PuppetHub. TheCreatureWork, the glasses are carved from wood (balsa), sanded, and almost endlessly sprayed with black Plasti-Dip to give a more plastic look. The puppet was meant to be mainly for display, otherwise I probably would...

    Custom Puppet - Spike Lee

Hey guys, Just thought I'd share the latest custom job to come out of the workshop. I normally have very little time for custom work (to keep creating patterns for Project Puppet), but I couldn't pass this one up. It's a caricature puppet of Spike Lee...young...in the old Nike commercials...

    Question about Project Puppet's Patterns

Sistablister, if you're interested in a specific puppet or like the building style of a certain builder in the Project Puppet Gallery, I'd be happy to put you in touch the builder to inquire about the puppet or custom work. Just drop me a line through the contact page on the website, and we'll...

Advice on Simple Series puppet mouth

Glad to hear it, David! And I know I probably sound like a broken record, but I really mean it when I say that the Project Puppet patterns are meant to be a starting point. Changes you make, materials, tools, skill sets, or whatever you employ in the building of your puppets, is what makes them...

Advice on Simple Series puppet mouth

You can certainly adjust the construction of the Melonhead puppet to allow for gluing. Rax's suggestion to use thread the color of the mouth is excellent. Also it looks like the stitches could be made closer to the edge of the fleece/felt. You may also want to give the "locking whipstitch" a...
