Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Yes, this is something that bugged me, too. The Muppets were always colorful, but they didn't look kiddie-show bright. They looked like they fit into the real world of "The Muppet Movie." This changed slightly with "The Great Muppet Caper," but returned for "The Muppets Take Manhattan." Since...
"The Gelfling Gathering is a rich period of history..."
Oh yeah? They don't tell us too much about it, do they? I realize we must use our imagination, but a few more guidelines would be useful. The document on the website says little to explain exactly what the Gathering is. I'd assume it's...
No, this will be a respectable, full-length, in-depth biography. "Jim Henson: The Works" is a great book, but it skims a lot about Henson the man. I think it will be more in line with "Street Gang" in terms of depth.
No, not because it's minimal. I'm all for simplicity. I raise you Henson's "Simple is good" with Mr. Rogers' "Simple and deep is better than shallow and complex!"
Rather, I dislike it because it's a poor and rather lazy, slapdash design. Henson had a great sense of style and design (just look...

A few long0time puppeteers delivered eulogies, and then everyone paraded down to the sunken garden on the O'Neill campus. A tree was planted in her honor, and everyone hung messages for Mrs. Henson on the tree. The ceremony concluded with a song - Rainbow Connection, of course. I hope someone...
As much as I would love to see the Muppets on stage, I would be afraid that they would just use recorded vocals and have some random puppeteers play the characters. I would only pay for a show with the actual Muppet performers, not some puppeteers-for-hire.
"The Muppet Show Live" worked...
What say you, NYPost?! That Roscoe Orman is a human being capable of transgression? Say it isn't so!!! Here I was, thinking he was just a smiley man who lived in the TV Box!
I don't know. One of the (very few) issues I have with Disney's handling of the Muppets is the decision to kind of wipe out the Muppets' true origins with Henson, and just make it seem like they've always been "delightful Disney characters." No where in the credits of "The Muppets" do I remember...
