Your Favorite Cartoons on Sesame Street

Awesome! Thanks again Xerus. That is most certainly the one. Boy I totally had lost all memory of the moths. :) And I agree, I'm sure his seemingly happiness at the end was supposed to be a cover for his embarrassment. Heh heh.

    My Social Studies Teacher

Wow after a classic killing of a thread I then do the precise opposite - a huge REVIVAL (or anti-killing) of a thread. You can't be that! :) Hey that would give you an excuse to watch a lot of movies with your class (like "Gettysburg", "Schindler's List", "Saving Private Ryan") :)...

I'm worried, but mainly because Washington has lost something like 15 of the last 16 against Dallas! But with Gibbs at the helm we got a chance, provided our defense plays well enough. But I will be picking against my team in next week's predictions (and hoping to be wrong, of course. :D ).

    My Social Studies Teacher

Hey I just thought I'd give myself a pat on the back for doing a classic example of killing a thread. All 14 replies to this thread were made in the evening of September 7th within about 2 hours and then after my entry- BAM! Nothing ever since. Nice job on my part eh? :D *pats self on back*...

    Favorite Animal Films

I'm sorry Rosewood, but I'm not sure which episodes had that one. In the 80's and 90's I would occasionally watch or tape SS in order to see any vintage clips and I think it was around 1988-1991 some time that I saw this one. But couldn't tell you the #. I also searched for some comments on this...

    See ya!

Hey D'Snowth, don't feel bad about your threads of concern for TA. It shows how much you like him and care about him (as well as all of us do here, as we also expressed in the threads). It wasn't just that he was not posting for a few days, but that he was no longer being shown on the member...

New Electric Company TV Show and DVD

Yeah that's right, I can think of a lot of other skits I saw multiple times on TEC, just like on SS, so I was no doubt seeing some Cosby on TEC throughout the 70's.

How's the weather where you are?

And here comes that heat to Philly. Gonna be hot this afternoon at 90. Tomorrow too. Then cooler again. Uncertain if we'll get a lot of rain on Wed and Thurs from this new Hurricane Ophelia. Hopefully the hurricane season is nearing its end! This is a great thread. But I hope to see its...

    My 1000th post!

Congrats Gorgon! I recently made this milestone too (became the 61st senior member) so you are now the 62nd senior member. :)

I don't mean last place as in the worst record in the NFL, I mean last place in their division: Washington 1-0 NYGiants 1-0 Dallas 1-0 Philadelphia 0-0

Bert and Ernie and chronic insomnia

Yeah I do. Ernie and Bert skits are one of my favorite things from SS but occasionally there was one where I felt more sorry for Bert than finding the ending funny. A couple of other times I felt bad for Bert was when he was sick and Ernie couldn't grasp that and even snapped angrily at Bert one...

    Sesame Street films

It's possible but my best recollection is that they were just standing on the ground outside (or playing) and the camera zooms in on the eyes.

Yep, I knew about the Indi-Balt game last night. Was just commenting on the games as of 7pm, having just watched 6 hours of football. :) So now you are 9-6 and I'm 7-8 with one more game this week (Falcon game tonight). At Yahoo I am ranked about # 61,000! (out of over 100,000). Usually there...

Bert and Ernie and chronic insomnia

The blackout skit was in 1975. It's one I didn't like so much because I felt bad for Bert at the end (when Ernie calls Oscar and lies and says it's Bert. All he had to do was hang up! :) ).

Oh just one tree the whole time eh? I guess when he said Timber again it was for the tree to refall after the film ran backwards to bring it back up. :) And what was it that was the second item to fall (a mach?) ?

New Electric Company TV Show and DVD

What's interesting about Cosby only being in the first season (which would have been 1971-1972) is that I recall quite a few of his skits. So I either have a really good memory (since I was only ages 4 and 5 those years) or they replayed his skits after he left the show. He was such a natural...

    Nfl 2005

Well I sure did have a rough day today with my picks. I'm only 6-8 so far. You've got me beat at 8-6, Kimp. Lot of surprises. Who'd a thunk SanFran beats the Rams, Dallas beats San Diego and Miami beats Denver? But I'm glad to be wrong about New Orleans. Nice to see them play inspired football...

Another one I couldn't find in the search had a guy's voice saying "Timber!" as several trees were cut down. At the end there was something much smaller that fell down (like a little stick or pole maybe?). Definitely saw this by 1972.

It brings to mind others I've read from time to time saying they get called by a certain character on the street a lot. For instance, William Frawley said something like, "People are always identifying me with that Fred Mertz character." He didn't seem too pleased with that. But it's...

    Tennis anyone?

YEOWWCH! One time in 7th or 8th grade these two guys were fighting on a tennis court. When one of the guys left, I asked the other guy what happened. He said he hit him in the back of the head with a tennis ball. Even at a high velocity I wouldn't think that would have hurt too bad, eh...
