I think there's nothing to worry about copyright-wise until you start making money. It's not strict adherence to the law -- but it's too small to worry lawyers.
I meant not lip synching things like "It's not Easy Being Green" with Kermit the Frog. Kind of trying not to cover the same ground that's already been covered by the Muppets forty years ago.
I think you're a great puppeteer -- and in learning I know it's useful to emulate what others have...
Is that last one you singing or is that a Sesame Street song? I kinda want to see you tackle some non-Muppet stuff. Your skills are good, but I think you're kinda hiding behind what the Muppets already do.
If that makes sense. ;)
Maybe you could do something like:
"It has been brought to our attention that the name 'Moppetz' has a striking similarity to another well-known puppet brand. Of course, we never meant any disrespect to the owners of this brand and hope to rectify this as quickly as possible. In other news, the...
If you're a dreamer and an imagineer, do what you want -- but try not to make it derivative of others' work.
There are a million ways to do puppets outside of what Henson and co. did. Expose yourself to them. Learn from others. Combine it with things about Henson's work to create something of...
They came apart -- or didn't stick at all. Also, the seams became hard after they cooled -- and since I had to use a lot of glue to get them to stick, these hard areas were very noticeable under the fleece.
I still use hot glue on the mouths, though.
Any idea how they attached the arms and legs? It doesn't look like a doll joint, the key chain or velcro. It almost looks like a post that snaps into place. I think all the Fraggles had removable arms (I had heard velcro), but I'm unfamiliar with the way they did it here.
WOW! Is it a stuffed doll or a puppet? I have to doa search to find out what the original pattern was supposed to make, as compared to your modifications. Anyway, great job!
I only have one puppet with machs -- but the arm rods aren't removable on most of them, so I lumping those into the "mech" category. Could rods be considered weapons?
How do you take the puppets? I can't remember the way I did it last time (I think I put them into a large hard suitcase and prayed). Pre-9/11, I used to bring them in a shopping bag, but was worried about what they'd look like as carryon with all the mechs and whatnot inside some of them...
I keep talking about doing a video about how to pattern. There are definitely ways that are teachable to do it -- I learned by watching that old TLC show "Trading Spaces." I use a technique that's based on the way they reupholster couches.
