Video: Favorite Kevin Clash Muppet Moments

Thanks to you, Mupcollector, I discovered my second favorite Kevin Clash moment: Polly Lobster singing "I'm a Rock" on Muppet Sing Alongs. You know, the one that goes 'I'm a Rock!---A Hard Rock!'
Wanted to give you guys the clip, but there's none short enough on YouTube.

I remember that video, I used to have it as a kid. I remember seeing the video in a store and thinking "WOW, THE MOVIE IS OUT ON VIDEO ALREADY?" lol But of course it was a sing a long one. It was good but not as good as the actual movie of course. But yeah I remember that song, I'd love to see it again myself.

Yeah. I think MTI is one of the earliest of Kevin's performances of TMS characters outside of "Sesame Street," I mean. I think he also did the puppeteering for Piggy and Fozzie while Frank later looped in the voice.

How about in Muppet Christmas Carol, did Frank perform his characters in there too? I think Frank performed a little bit in MTI, like the first scene with Fozzie and Mr. Bimbo. (lol what a corny gag, I love it lol) And I think most of the scenes with Kermit and Miss Piggy arguing. Wasn't the scene where Kermit first was dangling off the cliff upside down, wasn't that the first scene they filmed of the movie?

You know who I was thinking of a few days ago. Mulch. Mulch was originally performed by Jerry Nelson for the Debra Harry Muppet Show Episode and The Muppets Go To The Movies, but Kevin took over him for Muppets Tonight where Mulch became the assistant of Dr. Phil Van Neuter on Tales From The Vet. I was just showing my best friend this weekend the episode where Mulch shows their Christmas party of 1993 where Dr. Phil Van Neuter was getting drunk on Eggnog and Mulch is literally pushing people out of his way when he's taping Dr. Phil Van Neuter. lol And I've noticed in the background, Bagoony from Fraggle Rock is in the Background as well as that Eggheaded Character from the Gorilla Television segments on The Jim Henson Hour. Chip I think his name is.

The funny thing on how Kevin performed Mulch compared to Jerry Nelson was Jerry's Mulch talked like a Caveman while Kevin made Mulch more primitive speaking in moaning and gibberish.

And Mulch's Sister in "She Blinded Me With Science" and where he takes the two erasers and hits Dr. Phil Van Neuter over the head. lol hilarious. I'd love to see The Muppets get back into that kind of humor again. The slapstick, the bad puns, the anything for a laugh style they used to have.

I just got to post these clips, these are too good just to talk about. lol

Can you all believe that Muppets Tonight is over 15 years old. I still remember being about 10ish when it came out. Watched it every week, same with Wubbulous World of Dr. Suess

I'm curious, is Kevin the lead bully singer in this song? This is one of my all time favorite Sesame moments. I'm not sure if anyone posted this already, but either way I wanted to share it. It cracks me up when they go to the choris of the song. "BOO HOO WAH WAH SOB SOB" *blows their nose* lol. By the way, who's the Muppeteer performing the one with the leather jacket? I know Brian Muehl as the kid at the end. And is that Pam Arciero as the female character? Also did this song ever end up on any of the Sesame albums? I love this song. lol

Thank you everyone for the great clips and/or full episodes! Since I believe Kevin is innocent, I hope he can somehow carry on with his work and his life. I hope he sees how the fans have stood by him and I hope it gives him strength. Even if he's not with Sesame, I hope he can get back with the Muppets. Here's one of my favorites:

I just love the satirical stuff on their TV set on Dinosaurs. It's totally one of my strongest influences. I remember Kevin was in the special feature on one of the DVD box sets and he mentions the show being the best written TV show he ever worked on, it's the writing first, the art next and the rest come after. I loved his role for Howard Handupme. And just the satirical news he would utter out or when he sometimes panicked like in Nuts To War. He looks at the piece of paper and just panics "No...no..noo..Dear God in Heaven Say It Isn't So!" then he looks at the screen "It's nothing, now here's Dwayne with sports". lol Speaking of Dwayne, I loved the episode where Howard mentions that there doesn't seem to be any end in sight among the crankiness among males, then he terns to Dwayne (Steve Whitmire) who only has 20 seconds left. So they just growl at each other, Dwayne whacks Howard with his script and Howard stands taller to scare of Dwayne just like how actual male animals do in the wild. lol Amazing.

And of course Baby (Ugh Ugh I'm Dying You Idiot) Sinclair, the stuff this kid utters out is just hilarious. I think I already posted the behind the scenes video of Kevin goofing around with Baby driving the director nuts on the set. lol I loved the Terrible Twos episode, Also the episode where he becomes a Hollywood Big-shot and fires his make up artist. lol "Let me tell you about your job! You gotta baby, you gotta bottle, you stick, your fired!" lol And how he robbed the gas station in Fran's daydream. lol One of my favorite lines of all time is when he's watching Captain Action Figure and Fran turns it off complaining about how it's just horrible brainwashing kids and taking advantage of them with commercialism and he utters out "Not Commercial, Children's Programming!" lol And who can forget the famous "SMOO" episode (we can say Smoo on this forum right? lol Couldn't resist)

Dinosaurs is totally one of my all time favorite shows, and I'm so happy that Kevin was a part of it. I totally wished Dinosaurs would come to iTunes. It's on Netflex and on DVD, why not iTunes? But I suppose that's just for another thread.

Which leads me to my third discovered Kevin Clash favorite: Baby Sinclair rescuing his family (dad, brother, dad's friend) from the tar pits. In that episode, he did get distracted, but when he was playing video games with a new friend he met along the way, he continued on and completed his rescue task. It was surprising to see how black the three dinosaurs were getting from the sticky tar!
I have no idea which episode that was. Please somebody post it up here.

Dinosaurs clips are rare to find on the internet, but yeah I totally know which one you mean. In fact, on DVD that episode "Into the Woods" I think the episode is called has a commentary on it and it happens to be one of Brian Henson's all time favorites and mine too mainly because it features in the begaining "Blarney: The happiest bouncing ball of foam. He's like the house guest that never leaves." lol It's amazing how great Steve Whitmire is at imitating Barney's voice. Plus another great Kevin Clash moment, Howard Handupme hosting a direct to video on a toddler's Wilderness Ritual.

Howard: Currently you are the youngest member of the family who's always needy and self centered.
Toddler: Come Here, Gimme Gimme Gimme, I don't care about you at all! (I love that words in the characters mouth style satire they use)
Howard: And your parents can tolerate it up to a point.
Father (voice): THAT'S IT!
Toddler is thrown out of the cave which is basicly one of the unisaur puppets
Toddler: Hey, what's the big ide-ya?
Howard: This Wilderness Ritual will teach your loved one the importance of family and caring for others.
Then the monster puppet from The Jim Henson Hour: The Monster Maker pops up looking at the Toddler
Toddler: Boy, family sure is important. READY TO COME BACK IN EDNA!
Monster easts Toddler and burps
Howard: If they are quick enough. Basicly you leave your kid on the front door step outside alone for 20 minutes and then take him out for a Happy Meal. So, so long and good luck to your Wilderness Ritual.

I did want to reply to your quote that you posted regarding how you remember seeing Dinosaurs in your childhood. I grew up watching Dinosaurs myself but what I wanted to point out was I remember meeting someone once (had a crush on her, didn't work out, long unrelated story) and she told me that Dinosaurs was one of the greatest kid shows she ever seen. And I smiled and said. Dinosaurs isn't a kids show, it's a satirical comedy show but kind of like The Simpsons, it's social satire yet it's a family sitcom. And it's so interesting to see that mix, satire which can be stood best by high brow intellectual people mostly adults yet it's a family sitcom and has morals which a family could sit down and watch together. But of course depending on the family, the children's maturity and adult supervision. 90s were a time where it's not as PC and safe as TV is today in my opinion. But I don't see much of that mix anymore. Simpsons have a more family turn to it instead of it's satirical aspects in it's hayday (a Simpsons debate would probably work best in another thread in general discussions but I hate arguing. lol) And even I thought Mystery Science Theater 3000 was a kids show since I grew up with it until I seen the movie in my high school days. lol It's funny because I grew up watching shows that were animated and puppetry that were meant for adults, something about adult comedy shows with puppets and cartoons caught my eye as a kid more then kiddy shows. lol But like everything I love and even being the life long Muppet fan as I have been, it's really great seeing it as an adult because I can see an episode of a show I haven't seen as a kid and finally getting all these jokes and gags that only adults would get and just laughing at all these new jokes as well as the slapstick which everyone can benefit. So it becomes all new again. Anyway, sorry for going off subject a tad. Let me stear everything back to the original topic with another great Kev moment

Now here's a rare character that I'm not sure if anyone remembered when growing up with Sesame, I sure didn't. I grew up with 80s / 90s Sesame. I heard Dexter didn't last long, have many appearances. Kevin would perform the head and there's a second person who's a pro juggler.

Though probably my favorite character that Kevin did on Sesame was probably Kingston Livingston III. He was the next Roosevelt Franklin but a more modern one. It's sad that he and Benny Bunny wasn't on Sesame anymore. Personally I prefer them then Elmo, Zoe, Rosita and Abby Cadabbi.

The ending just cracks me up where Bobby gets overcrowded by the birds. lol

I looked up the Muppet Wiki article and the current puppet looks horrible. I miss the 2nd version, the 1989-2001 version. That's the Hoots I remember when I grew up watching Sesame

I just read that Louis Armstrong was the inspiration for Hoot's voice which I never realized because Hoots' voice is much more higher pitch and not as raspy as Louis. It kind of reminds me how The Count's voice is based on the original Dracula's voice and how Uncle Deadly's voice is based on Vincent Price's voice I think.And isn't Harry Monster's voice based on Jimmy Durante?

I think I already posted "Things Are Always Changing" and I hate to double post. So I'll just mention it a bit because this Hoots song that means a lot to me because my mother would sing that to me (not remembering any of the lyrics lol) when ever we were going to move and I had anxiety about it as a kid. So it defiantly has a special place in my heart.
